They are probably closing shop for good.
They are probably closing shop for good.
Boeing gets lots of tax breaks in WA. They are moving to SC because the existing SC plant isn't unionized. This is simply a union busting move by Boeing.
But here is the real story
https://www.seattlebusinessmag.com/article/boeing-boeing-gone
Well, these days it is a poorly run company that may well struggle whether they stay or go.
And for those of you getting on their planes, note that many of the production defects became pronounced (and deadly) with that undertrained workforce down in the Carolinas (although they presumable are not at fault for the software issues in the Max).
As for the Washington-based Machinists, the Company is correct in noting that the Machinist union negotiates as if they have a strong hand, despite Boeing having financial trouble and alternative non-union labor options.
As for Democrats losing, the Everett facility is in GOP-leaning Snohomish County, and most of its workers live up there. And a lot of the vendor companies are owned by GOP-leaning businessmen, so the most direct losers probably will be GOP. But no doubt the ripples will affect many. Fortunately, it is irrelevant to me and my core clients.
We gotta get Jay Inslee out of office he is ruining the State of Washington.

So when workers only want a fair living wage and the disparity between CEO salaries and extra benefits and regular workers is higher than it's ever been.....yeah let's blame workers.
As for unions, the US had the strongest economy and the most vibrant middle class when unions were strong. Most economists will tell you that with the disappearance of the middle class, the economy goes to crap....you have few people who can afford to buy stuff, travel, etc. It's NOT good to have a nation of serfs and only a few uber wealthy at the top.
The Seattle area has also become super pricey for regular people to live in which has also driven the need for higher wages . Both rent and home prices are way over priced. That's a complicated issue and not really Boeing or their workers fault per se. All the carpetbagging Californicators and rich Chinese buying up alot of the properties here hasn't helped. For a long time Seattle has been the #1 market for Chinese national buyers in the US (google it if you don't believe it).
Is this a surprise? They moved HQ to Chicago years ago. Washington thought they were bluffing last time, but guess not.
Too funny. Boeing will probably move to a strong Republican state like Oklahoma where your Seattle Supersonics moved to Oklahoma City 10 yrs ago. Lol.
Democratics are not party of the old days. They've been taken over by the radical Left. ?
Unions are not needed in the 21st century. Companies have no obligation to submit to them and every right to move somewhere else.

More Boeing employees are democrats than republican.
Washington remains blue.
North Carolina becomes a full-time blue state.
Your attempted taunt falls flat as your feet. I am unaffected by wherever they move. As for the basketball team, my firm represented the Oklahoma buyers in that deal and I am not a basketball fan. So it was a double win for me.
Boeing is right about he Machinists' negotiating strategy, but as for the political leadership, they gave Boeing lots of breaks over the years and Boeing's take on negotiations with the local governments is just one side of the story. In the end, it doesn't matter, because none of the leadership lives here any more (or near anywhere they build planes), so they will move, get lots of tax incentives and the new home states will hope the jobs make up for the tax incentives. Economists will tell you that sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't.
Boeing is the poster child for corporate welfare. despite getting billions of $$$ in corporate welfare, they are constantly demanding more and more from the State while the CEO walks away with a $62 million severance package.

Excellent troll post. Also good that the article you posted is not date stamped.
Unfortunately, a bit of checking shows it is probably over 10 years old.
1) The article quoted CEO Jim McNerney. McNerney left Boeing in 2015
2) The article mentions Gov. Chris Gregoire. Gregoire left office in 2013
3) The article mentions A350 may come to market sometime between 2013 to 2015
4) The article talks about opening a second 787 assembly line, probably around 2012.
It was, however written after 2008 as it mentions the strike.

Hey there, Let's Tell,
Do you know anything about Washington State or Boeing? Both are populated by Republicans.
Seattle is a liberal city in a Republican State. Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles are also liberal cities in conservative states full of wide open rural spaces.
Boeing is full of conservative leaning employees. Boeing has flirted with financial ruin for decades. Current estimates are that the government, Boeing's biggest customer, accounts for 31% of the company's business, with defense making up 13%. "Will the last person leaving Seattle turn off the lights" didn't see Microsoft, Nintendo, and Amazon On the horizon.
Good riddance. A company that actually designs planes to crash into the ground is long past its expiration date.

Do you know anything about politics? Your post is ridiculous; Washington hasn't had a Republican governor in office since Spellman back in 1984! Now Washington has had fourteen (14) years of Democratic trifectas. That means the governor and the majority of both the House & Senate are Leftist! So, it doesn't matter how many Republicans are supposedly populating the state - the voters are electing Leftist to run the state! ?
Seattle and Washington get what they deserve with Boeing hightailing it out of there. I'm sure other businesses will soon follow. The Democratic party isn't what it once was - it's been hijacked by the radical Left! And the radical Left are destroying the Democratic states & major cities piece by piece!
https://ballotpedia.org/Party_control_of_Washington_state_governmentIt's ok, Washington can just raise taxes to make up for it. Inching closer to a Marxist utopia.
Democrats lose again!!!
