I typically start my run at 3:30 - 4:15 every morning. I wake up 30 minutes before I typically hit the start button on my Garmin.
3:30 start time = long run or workout with WU/CD, shoe change etc. Typically 1:30-2 hours.
3:45 - 4:00 = 8-10 miles easy. Typically 1:00 - 1:15
4:15 = 6 mile recovery days I do every 10 days or so. Typically 45 minutes.
Routine is as follows:
1) Put clothes on stairs and prepare Keurig for single button push the night before
2) Set alarm per the above table based on planned workout
3) Stumble out of bed quietly so as not to wake up wife or sleeping children
4) Turn on lights and start Keurig machine
5) Drink coffee and go to bathroom
6) Put on clothes and shoes and walk .33 miles down to starting point of run (I live on a massive hill)
7) First mile is usually mid 7's if I feel really good, high 7's if I am feeling normal and 8' or slower after a hard workout or during a recovery day.
8) Try to be home around 5:30 or a touch earlier as my 3 year old is an early riser
Up in between 2:30 and 3:30. Take supplements. Bathroom. Green tea. 7-9 miles, topping out at 7 min pace. Take BCAA's. Shower. Go to work at 6:00.
P.S. Read about Gerry Lindgren when he was in college and his routine.
Curious what time you go to bed?
I am more of a night runner.
9pm-10pm after the kids are in bed. Dinner is about at 6:00 pm.
Largely steady runs with some light strides afterwards. Have tried morning running recently with a buddy, but it's tough to recalibrate my body to this.
Me too. I typically leave the house between 8 and 9:30pm. After my family duties are over.
With my wife and my schedules it’s just what I’m kinda left with. I actually like it though.

I usually start thinking about going to bed around 9 PM.
I get up without an alarm somewhere between 330 and 4 am.
I go downstairs, have a cup of coffee from the Keurig, and usually clean up the kitchen from the night before (if needed) or fold laundry. At some point I use the bathroom.
I then put on my running stuff (kept in the basement), stretch while watching an SJD video in the basement, and head out the door.
I run from 23:20 pm
Night running?? Hell yeah, brother!!
Nov-March is all at night except weekends. Its dark early and I run in the evening. Usually after 6 or 7pm. Its great, few people out, peaceful. With standard light pollution visibility is not even an issue except on clear moonless nights.
Bikes with their 10 zillion candle power headlights aimed straight at my eye is the only occasional issue.
Really, do bikers not understand that their lights blind people and that car headlights aim down? For a reason?
