I recommend 2x 2500m with a 2:00 rest, one week prior to your TT; 5x1000 is nonsense.
I'm also interested in this question, but with a 3min rest.
McMillan (1st article below) says, "If you can perform five 1000-meter repeats at your goal 5K pace in the last one to two weeks before your race, you will achieve your goal time." He goes on to say later in the article, "I suggest you perform this workout nine to 12 days before your race to allow enough time to recover before the event."
However, the 2nd article below, says, "Two or three weeks before race day, run 5x1000m at your 5k goal race pace, with a 400m recovery jog between each interval."

Why is 5x1000 (i.e., 5000m total) any more nonsense than 2x2500m (5000m total)???
Is this at threshold or what? I wouldn’t do the week of a race if it is any harder.

What do you think about doing a (close to all-out) mile TT 13 days out from race, followed by a 5x1000 Predictor nine days out?

I don’t see a problem with a mile time trial that far out, but I don’t think the predictor is necessary. The mile will give you a good idea, and if you have put in a good base you already should have a rough idea of what type of 5k you can run.
I would not say I have put in a good base, running 20, maybe 30 miles a week. Elevated training ('crash training') occurred 4weeks out from race, hitting 40 miles that week.
I'm not quite sure on the structuring of the two weeks before the race, where I was considering placing those two time trials.

WHY .,! ? Lol ? Look at the two WO ... which one is more realistic to actually running an all out 5,000m.

I honestly don't know. They would both, I presume, be run at race pace, so the 2x2500 should be harder because of the fewer rest intervals, no?

So if a 5x1000 should not be run 7 days or closer to race day, why would you think a 2x2500 (which is harder) any more acceptable?
