Yeah, I would think having two people in WR shape would make it easier for them to break the WR.
If that's true, then I think Jakob totally has a shot at 3:25. It's possible in a better paced race, TC could have run 3:25 this year in Monaco. If that was the case, I think Jakob would be sitting at 3:27 right now at least.
Regardless, it's pretty likely TC and Jakob will be in great shape next year too, so hopefully a more normal year could see a WR assault.
It's really looking exciting for records of all kinds right now. Road 5k/10k, and almost marathon. The 400mh has been on the cusp of being broken all season, the 5k men's record just got shattered (and a 19 year old ran sub-12:50), 10k record is likely soon, half marathon record is easily within the realm of possibility, and another 3:26 could be coming up next year. Not to mention national records that got set this year. The women's indoor 800, mile, and outdoor 5k records got annihilated. The AR for the men's 5k got destroyed, and it looks like there's a ton of young talent out there. Norwegian road 5k by a 19 year old, along with a 3:28. A 3:29 for Britain, along with a 1:44 800 by an 18 year old.
There's so many fast races and times to be excited about in the future! 400mh and a (hopefully) fast 3k with 2 19 year old phenoms. A 10000m WR attempt, a stacked field for a half marathon, and the London Marathon with Bekele, Kipchoge and several other of the fastest of all time (hopefully they come in great shape).
