The Ingebrigtsen plan is a lot more vague. We know they do double threshold days and we know they do hills and track work, but there is very little specific information out there.
Obviously this a yes/no question.
I could either say yes they do enough speed work. Evidence is Jakob running 3:28 and now 7:27, Filip 3:30 and Henrik 7:36.
I could say no, they often get out kicked in many races.
But there’s only one winner in a race. We have been spoiled by Mo Farah blitzing 52s at the end of every championship. In Beijing in 2015 the last 800 was 1:48.6. Last 400 52.5. Or in 2013 when he split a 50.89 last lap.
This year in Doha, the last lap was compatibly a “measly” 55.09
The only guy over 1500 who can stop Jakob is Timothy. Over 5k the story is much different. It’s hard to say what the Ingebrigtsen’s are doing wrong because of the lack of information, but they are certainly doing a lot right.
Maybe we should ask how the east Africa s develop such a ridiculous kick?
