Allen - Your approach is extremely intelligent, especially for older runners. I have taken more rest and recovery since my injury problems and my “comeback” has gone well, better than I expected...after having some real doubts as to whether I could ever run fast again. I also have quit trading sleep for mileage, and rarely get up early anymore for runs. For me, that early morning stuff is a killer (and I believe that is erodes my health). I just cannot fall asleep early enough in order to get up early, and thus the early morning stuff is just an exercise in sleep deprivation.
