The US deaths from Covid are now projected to reach 600,000 early next year. Because wearing a mask is an infringement on Americans' freedoms. They appear to be taking to heart the old battle cry, "give me liberty or give me death". I guess death it will be.
Almost every death in my state have been residents in long-term care facilities, hospice, or nursing homes. Also, if masks work so well then why are people in long-term case facilities getting COVID where everyone is required to wear a mask and no outside visitors are allowed? Even my state’s own health website states masks have been proven to be “somewhat effective.” Total death numbers don’t tell the whole picture until you look deeper at the demographics and health status of those who have died. The number of people under 45, heck under 65, who are healthy (no obese, diabetic, already have heart disease, etc...) who have died is extremely small. Once you break down the ages and health status of those who have died, and pull out those who died with COVID and not from COVID, the numbers are much less scary and won’t cause this mass panic, so the media doesn’t report that. Think of the panic if everyone who had a flu symptom got tested (most people assume they have the flu and don’t bother to go to a doctor and/or get tested) and the news reported every single flu case and death every day during flu season.
