That's obviously not working for you.

I am fine with wearing masks for now, but really there is not reason to do so and there is no evidence we are saving any lives, particularly not 10s of thousands of lives as you claim. The amount of lives it is saving is very possibly minuscule and mask use by the general public is really an unproven tool in mitigation. Just because droplets can be blocked by a mask does not mean that blocking them is doing much of anything to mitigate the disease spread in the USA or most other nations; Americans generally are not that close to each other in public and this is not as much of an issue as it is in nations where people generally have no personal space in public.
Like I said, right now I have no problem wearing a mask and it is a good thing to do now as people are still nervous and we are working our way out of something, but wearing mask all of the time presents its own potential for harm and the potential to provide false security and allow people to think they can pack into rooms again which would be way worse. 1 year from now when we have been out of the pandemic for an entire year already (because we are out of it now) people are not going to listen to psychopath politicians trying to force this nonsense on them anymore.
And to your question, when no evidence of effectiveness has been provided, it is a lot to ask people to conform to your demands of how they should live so you can feel better; it is not acceptable. Ask any family member of anyone who has severe OCD; doing this on a nationwide scale is tragic and extremely unhealthy, both physically and psychologically, particularly to the younger children....kids these days are starting to lose trust in the adults because of the way we have all behaved through this mild pandemic. The Covid nazis out there seem to have a very narrow minded view on how to fix problems and DO NOT seem to understand that actions have consequences; the obsession with plugging one single leak in a large dam may be what cause us to lose the big picture and be what destroys the entire city in the end. Soon this all will stop because most people will be smart enough to understand that it has to stop and we have to save ourselves from this half-contrived mess that has mostly been over since June 2020.
My main point. People are not going to be wearing masks in 2022 or even 2021, because by then it will be too much to ask of people, particularly our children who have already had to learn to not trust the very adults who are supposed to lead them to creating a better future.

15 days to flatten the curve and we can get back to normal...
Just get new cases to zero and our test and trace system will allow us to get back to normal...
Just wait a few more months for a vaccine and then we got back to normal...
Look, just shut up and wear a mask for one more year so we can get back to normal, we promise.
So do you run, like, marathons? wrote:

It's just like how they told us the Iraq War would be a cakewalk, a quick in-and-out like the Persian Gulf War, and we'd be greeted as liberators.
Sad to see so many gullibe people still buying into the pandemic narrative.
Threads like this continue to show why America is leading the world. In Covid infections and deaths.

I remember when the GOP, Fox News and conservatives sold us that story and attacked everyone who questioned it as not being patriotic. Fun times.

On the topic of masks how does wearing one contribute to destroying cities, isn't that something that contributes to "saving ourselves"? What are these dire consequences of wearing masks?

If the infectious disease experts had their way we'd wear masks forever. Can we stop calling a polital/big pharma tool the top infectious disease expert in the county. He's clearly not that great of an expert or he's not very honest. How did we let a socialist Scandinavian country have better infectious disease experts than the US of A?
By all means. Swedens handling of the coronoavirus is bad. Very bad. Nearly as bad as USAs. And Sweden is not a socialist country. It has a socialdemocratic government. 578 deaths/million. USA 598. Neighboring Norway, conservative government, early lockdown, no need for mask wearing, 49.

USA also leads the world in fatties. Fatties are at a much higher risk of dying from the coronis.
More Fatties = More Deaths
Imagine if the country put this much effort into stopping preventable diseases by not letting people get fat.
The shutdowns are at least complex. Reopening schools is complex. These are issues with drastic consequences regardless of the path taken and most of us understand that. Those of you sticking your fingers in your ears pretending Covid is not even happening are really hurting the ability to have discussion on those topics because you refuse to accept basic facts. But I at least agree that these are tough situations to resolve.
Wearing a mask is not. It is the bare minimum to establish that you have any empathy whatsoever. Grow up.
Wear a mask and we will succeed like in Asia
One of the baseline assumptions one has to believe in to accept the "Covid narrative" is that the US government actually cares for the health of it's citizens. To believe in that you have to ignore the policies over the last several decades that quite clearly illustrate the exact opposite.
Now many on the "left" (including myself) have been documenting, lamenting, protesting these policies for years which are so clearly and consistently against public health but on this one issue to "rule them all" many seem to have conveniently swept all of those years and their own protestations under the carpet so as to cling to and rationalize this fear-based form of dementia and cognitive dissonance that keeps them hooked to the Covid swindle.

You mean like universal health care?
To everyone complaining about masks:
Those disposable blue masks have either two or three layers. Pick a side to be the outside and cut out the inside layer. Breathing is MUCH EASIER.
Will it still work? Well, if you don't believe it works in the first place, why would you care?
Just do it and quit whining about it. Take control of what you can control. (sigh) (Way too many whiny beta males on this forum.)
Meanwhile, in literal Wuhan...

Thing is, although it makes sense that wearing a mask should help, the best evidence
is that it is a net negative to health, which is why there are countries that still
don't require them.
Since this is a sports board, there is an interesting photo from a Georgia Tech football
game during the Spanish Flu. What is interesting is everyone in the stands is wearing
a mask. Doesn't seem to have worked then and probably isn't working now.
When everyone was saying masks were not recommended for the general public
back in Feb, that was because that is what the data says. Despite Fauci going,
'oh, I was lying then, everyone knows masks work', that is not true and there has
been no new data saying otherwise.
Here is a typical study:
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19216002/____
Methods: Health care workers in a tertiary care hospital in Japan were randomized into 2
groups: 1 that wore face masks and 1 that did not.
Results: ...Of the 8 symptoms recorded daily, subjects in the mask group were significantly more
likely to experience headache during the study period (P < .05). Subjects living with children
were more likely to have high cold severity scores over the course of the study.
Conclusion: Face mask use in health care workers has not been demonstrated to provide benefit
in terms of cold symptoms or getting colds.
____
So if you have kids, you are more likely to get sick. Pretty much known by any parent.
If you wore a mask you were more likely to get headaches.

Like I said; for now it is fine. 6 months from now you will be the whiny Beta whatever when nobody is listening to your unjustified BS anymore. You are more likely to have already killed someone's grandma every year when you got a standard corona virus (a cold) or the flu and and went to the store to buy Tylenol PM to make yourself feel better. If you are sick, stay home and you will do far more than you ever will by wearing a mask when you are healthy, far far more.
