First, I'm not a "we need to be quarantined forever" person OR a "this is a conspiracy, masks are for sheep" person.
I find this spin on the "only 6% didn't have a comorbidity" statistic pretty frustrating. Here is my personal example:
First, I realize I am unlikely to die if I get Covid. I am a fit male in my late 30s. HOWEVER, following a radical nephrectomy, my GFR rating is such that I officially have chronic kidney disease (CKD). Obviously this isn't great, but, based on the numbers and my otherwise good health, I should expect to live at least 25 years or more.
But, if i DO get Covid and die (CKD is listed as one of the major risk factors for a serious Covid illness), are some of you going to say that Covid didn't kill me because I already have a comorbidity, even though that alone was probably not going to kill me for many, many years?
Again, I know I probably won't die from Covid, but I just wanted to throw my personal example out there as someone who is youngish, fit, and has a potential comorbidity that basically doesn't affect my quality of life at all (and shouldn't for many years). Having another condition listed on your death certificate doesn't mean that one was about to kill you on its own.
