Ur to funny.
I'm a couple pages deep in the the outsiderunner thread
https://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=7847045
outsiderunner - where I'm at (only a few pages in), you had run two marathons. How many have you done since then? I'm assuming since the thread is 41 pages you did follow up with a marathon two weeks later? Have you done any others since then?
Although people have accused AJ and OR of being the same person, we actually identify as separate individuals, so I’ll just offer one example of a subsequent race:

Your welcome.
imagebearer - I have run a number of marathons since then, all of them with much better results. My breakthough marathon was 2017 Richmond, running 2:52:30 in a hefty negative split and feeling good at the end (and not all blown up...for me, that is how I want to finish--feeling good...wherein I have mastered the race, rather than the race having mastered me). Since that race I have run three sub-2:50 marathons, with 2:46:13 being my PR . I think I have been in 9 or 10 marathons total.
BHV - Ihave been meaning to tell you that I love the looks of your training. I saw in your last week 80 miles of solid work (in summer), with nearly every run under 7:00 and all done by feel. Bravo! Build in that manner, and you will get great results. And do not say "no workouts," as all of the runs you did worked your body, especially since you did non-easy work day after day...and in summer. Run hard when your body tells you to...
I hope Everyone has a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend. Cool weather will be here before we know it!
One of my all time favorite threads. Lots of weekly thread regulars coming together before ending up as weekly thread regulars, alm playing their internet persona roles to the nth degree.

Indeed. Great thread. Unlike Smoove it never gets old.
After that classic thread...I do pay close attention to the mini fridge situation when I’m booking AirBNBs for work and leisure travel.
I forgot all the old school thread people on that thread until I skimmed it.
And smoove is just vintage.
Think I just got to spectate the Boston Marathon in person for the first time since 2012!
Group of about 5, a couple in blue and yellow shirts with one person that appeared to be on bike support. They were too serious to give me the customary jogger's wave.

As I recall, I contributed a few of my usual lame comments about multiple single-season marathons and my astonishment at OR's training paces.
What I've never mentioned is that his "double-back" thread reignited my competitive drive -- "wouldn't it be a hoot if I could break 3 before outsiderunner does!"
At 57, I had recently run 3:25 off 2-3 days training per week, under 20 mpw average. Simple, I figured -- run 55 mpw, break 3. But what I didn't take into account was old-man injuries and down-time. Weeks, months of lost time, and I only managed 3:07 at 58.
Meanwhile, OR shattered 3 hours, even before my attempt, and now well into his 50s, he'll soon do it again! Go OR!
Allen - Thank you and bless you, my friend. Had great weather this morning and so I did a 15-miler. Glad that cool air is finally rolling in. Am disappointed with both yesterday’s tempo and today’s LR...felt flat yesterday and did not have any attack in the hills this morning.
So, what is on tap for you today? I will probably kindle a fire for a BBQ later on...have not selected a beverage yet...

Well, as an advocate of rest and recovery, I'll say again that even a 2:4x marathoner shouldn't expect to hammer out sub-7 progressions, with sub-6 closing miles, EVERY DAY. Rest and recovery, my friend.
My plans for the day are to keep work projects moving forward. I have clients still waiting for jobs I promised for May. People say it's great that I have too much work. But, unfortunately, I also tend to price jobs based on my overly optimistic time estimates. So here it is September, and I haven't earned June's income yet. Aargh.
I only run three days a week, never on consecutive days. The weather has been perfect, I ran 7.7. And 4.0 earlier in the week, 5.0 yesterday, so I'm done until Sunday or Monday. All progression runs, like 10:00 -> 7:15 pace. Looking for more like 9:00 -> 6:30. And going sub-6 for 1-mile TT this fall. Gotta lose 10 more pounds.
I'm down to just a couple Coronas in the fridge, and half a lime. That will have to do. No beer money this week, ha! Whatever your beverage of choice this evening, enjoy!
