I live in an urban area of a state that is having XC this fall. Some of the rural and smaller schools have been having small meets (think 10 team varsity) in the middle of nowhere. I've seen pictures of them, and there is no distancing, no masks, no sort of protocol at all, young and old all at the same place. (This is also a red state, so that's more likely to happen.) Regardless of what you think about the acuteness of the virus or the effects or how it spreads or whatever, if there are only a few cases that are traced back to these meets, I can't see our season being allowed to go on. Their lack of precautions seems to me like they might ruin the fall for the rest of us. What should/can I do, if anything? I know that none of us HS runners have almost anything to fear health wise, but their irresponsibilty might lead it to spread in the vulnerable parts of their communities.
