so who do you say is the most hyped current t&f athlete that has accomplished the least?
I think her name was Mary Jane.
Pappas.

If by Pre you mean Cheserek, you might be onto something. 50 years ago Pre's times at Oregon were faster but for some reason people think Cheserek is an all time great college runner. To this day he's a 28:30 10000 and over 13 5000 runner and he's older than Pre ever lived to be.

Abubaker Kaki - don't know if still a current athlete but he was supposed to be the next Rudisha...
Decent mention but Kaki’s hype preceded Rudisha’s—he was supposed to be the next Kipketer until Rudisha came along and stole the show. He also won 2 World Indoor golds, an outdoor WC silver and ran 1:42.23...not that bad.

Anyone "coached" by JS - huge hype but it's hard to get any results when you don't exist.
Lol?
Emma Coburn?

I think it’s clear both Pre and Ches were all time great collegiate runners.
But to watch the multiple Prefontaine biopics, you might be surprised that Dick Buerkle was the top-ranked U.S. 5k runner of 1974, or that Bill Dellinger actually medaled in the Olympic 5k not long before Pre’s day.
Whoever says Sydney is just trolling. Next someone will claim it's Carl Lewis.
Actual answers:
Canadian guy that runs 200 mile weeks or whatever. LR hero for some reason.
Australian dancing hurdle girl. Though the dancing was pretty good and on a track, so maybe I'm being harsh.
90% of all superhyped HS distance runners. Girls and boys.

Okay Lolo, we forgot to nominate you for this prestigious award.

They’re the same age.
Outside of Brazier, no one has been hyped as “the next Rudisha.”
You can fall short of being the great 800m runner ever and still end up being a legendary athlete.
My pick is Webb, who is my favorite American runner ever. He should have won multiple global medals across multiple events.
I don't think Webb qualifies. He is the fastest high schooler ever and the fastest American ever.
Two overhyped ones are:
1) McLaughlin
2)Brazier
Hype around both has been especially nauseating. Every time they are going to race it's about how easily will one of them break the world record. Obvious to everyone already is that they have already peaked and will accomplish nothing significant. Doesn't help them that they both have childish awkward/princessy behavior probably due to some heavy insecurities.

Oh he qualifies. Best global finish was 8th for a guy with more hype than anyone else mentioned in this thread.
Go back and read the criteria.
Current? No
Accomplished the least? Setting American record can't be accomplishing the least except in the twilight zone.
Prefontaine never got an Olympic medal
Webb.
End of discussion.
Read the criteria.
Current athlete? No
Accomplished the least? Setting American record is accomishing the least? The other 350 million Americans can run faster?

You run a race to win.
0 WC medal.
0 Olympic Medals.
Who cares how fast you have run if you cant win.

Similarly you think Joe "0 National Titles" Klecker is king. So your opinion isn't respected.
