Columbus, OH resident here. Running through the university area this weekend was a nightmare. Students aren't even fully back yet but saw at least 15-20 parties with 20+ people, no masks, no distancing. I feel as though it will get very bad, very soon.
Yeah, so terrible. A bunch of college kids asymptotic giving it to other kids that will be asymptotic then in 2 weeks it will be gone.
The fact that the mayor of a city where almost 40,000 people from ages 18 to 23 attend a university has to tweet out "Why?" is either deeply troubling or moronic, perhaps both.
Yeah it's all good let's just be really casual about letting this thing hang around for several years. I'm shocked all you Trumpsters who want life back to normal so badly wouldn't be more motivated to just suck it up for a month and kill this thing off, but "freedom" and "rights" and "communism" or something like that, right?
Hey, as long as you don't die, who cares.
They've been hanging out with each other all summer and spring (since they didn't have to go to school during the spring). Many have already had it (for most healthy individuals their age, it is nothing more than a runny nose). Even if classes are on-line, they are still going to get together with one and other and party.
College students be like:
Have you paid any attention to the science? It doesn't disappear. Distancing is intended to spread out the infections, not cut the number. It is intended to not overwhelm hospitals. So many of you have forgotten or do not understand. The ideal situation is if we could have every bed full but nobody untreated. Hospitals are not overwhelmed which means we should lessen distancing.

Two weeks to stop the spread
No sorry four weeks
Just a few more months!
Ok just until there's a vaccine
Enjoy voting for Biden and loving your wife's son.
And yea, those people who are at risk should not be out in public regardless. The rest of us non-immunocompromised people know the death rate is .02% among people with no underlying health issues.
It took you a year to find a job out of school after graduating with 2 business degrees
It only takes you a few minutes to appear in a covid-related thread to push your agenda.
I wonder what either of these two facts can tell us about the other?

We just want the truth from the Fake News media. How many times has their story changed, starting with “Trump is racist for suspending travel from China”?
Considering they now want to keep the fear level high to give Dementia Joe a better shot at winning, we take anything they say as likely a lie.

I think everyone “sucked it up” for two months. It’s not going away anytime soon, no matter one’s political leanings.

You mean, everyone in China? They had a real lockdown. We didn't. But we are a bunch of pansies. They are laughing at how soft and lame we are.

Are you serious? In China they welded apartments shut with occupants inside. They tore mothers from their kids and took them away. You'd prefer we did this?
I guess I'm a pansy for preferring not to live in Communist China.

Yes, the USA would never do that...

Game, set, match.
Colleges do not exist in a bubble. Mississippi's summer outbreak was fueled in part by summer frat parties at Ole Miss. Lots of college students come home over the weekend, work jobs, go to restaurants, etc. out in the community and can set the stage for a huge outbreak this fall when the weather changes.

So far there have been 242 deaths from Covid of people 15-24, including those with pre-existing conditions. If the death rate was .02% that would mean 1.25 million infected in this age group. In really in excess of 10 million. This is a nonissue for young people. Young people of the world, go out and booze it up and give the middle finger to those calling for shutdowns. They are sacrificing your financial future for their own security. Just like they already have with social security (plus other entitlements), overpopulation, and the economy.
It is time for the young people of the world to stop letting the boomers crap on their futures.

This is so dumb. Going to the simplest model...if one person had it, isolated themselves for the contagious period, and then got healthy again (or died)... then the virus would disappear. It needs a second host to jump to to survive. So now, lets all just freeze (if conceivable) for two-four weeks. It would disappear. There would be no new host to infect. The more we've let this spread through the country, the harder it is to get it to disappear, but it's absolutely possible for it to have disappeared if we weren't all such morans.

0.25% mortality risk among people who have it. 0.25%.
