You see, when he can't see the light, he knows he is "ahead of pace" and can simply relax at that effort (well, as much as you can relax at sub 60 second pace).
Geb, Komon, Bekele would have all run faster than they did had they had pacing lights.
However people feel about the new WC, f*** 2020. I feel bad for Bekele considering his 10000m record is now on life support. He's nearly 40, yet COVID shows up to potentially ruin his last shot at the marathon WR.
Anyone happy that Bekele's records are going down? I always saw him as a bit arrogant and kind of a jerk. Cheptegei seems very humble, a very hard workers and a true sportsman, much like Kipchoge.
