My running has been going well lately, very conservatively built up to 60ish mpw for July following 3 weeks up, 1 week down approach with 1 workout and 1 LR a week. I felt pretty solid completing my 15 mile run @ 7:15 pace two Sundays ago. The next couple days, I felt ok, but by Friday, I tried doing 4x2k @ 6:10 mile pace and couldn't even get through 2. For reference, in this cycle, I've completed workouts like 5x mile @ 6:05 pace with 60s rest, and 2x 15 min at around the same pace with 3 minutes rest. This was the first workout that did not go well.
This past Sunday, I was fully intent on getting in 16 miles, but my calves felt so tight, I barely made it through 4 miles at 8 minute pace. Went to PT yesterday to get it stretched out (I'll be back tomorrow as well) and took the day off, but they hurt a ton today as well and pretty much hobbled through a very painful 6 miles.
I am trying to nip this issue quick so that way I can get back to running what I have been. Has anyone had experience with this? Obviously there is no magic bullet but if anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate hearing them!
