And just a couple days ago, another thread said Brits sucked at 5k haha. I think he's got a shot at sub 13 on the track.
Result / time of the night possibly Tom Evans?
13:50 I believe? I know he mixes it with the best on XC, but he also mixes it with the best over 100km - 100miles.
Has he got the best range of any distance man right now? Where you don't have to look back at 'what they did in college before ultras' to find a fast time.
Think he was actually 13:40,incredible time for him,3rd at Western States, best non american time ever and throws down a 5k like that.
I wonder what that middle ground marathon time would be, assuming he had a decent block for it.
Western States is 'runnable' for a 100mile race. Have to think theres an Olympic marathon spot there if he really wanted it.

Jonny Mellor ran 13:46 last year at Armagh and got 2:10:03 in Seville ,so that shows his potential.Tom isn't a very experienced runner either so lots of improvements to be had.
I would say Marc Scott has about half the talent as Drew Hunter but at the moment is significantly better. Tinman has really dropped the ball.
Another top result not mentioned is the 13:26 by Alex Yee. That beats his PB which was set on the track.
Kid is younger than Hunter. I believe he can take down the British road 10k in a few years.

Sounds like a very fast course. Anyone know anything about the course layout, how much downhill?
Impressive depth in that race
Each loop dropped 100 feet.

But starts and ends on pretty much the sane level so overall no gain, each mile has no gain or loss if you check strava.
It is a fast course as it has a very quick field turn up,and no tight turns to slow you down.

They ran on a descending corkscrew course???
Jonathan Brownlee the great triathlete ( World champ/Olympic medallist ) ran 13min 40 something.
Yee ran 27:5x over 10000m some years back. If he would only focus on running...
Tom Evans is a beast and shows what a talent Jim Walmsley is (Evans could barely hang for one mile with Walmsley at Western States), but the thing I love about Evans is he's quite a bit arrogant and cocky. He really thinks he's one of the best in the world. His adidas YouTube videos are interesting, but this 13:40 is quite insane. He beat some real full-time pro road and track runners that have made World teams, etc.
What's next for him? Excited for the big man.

In a few years Tom will surpass Jim easy, that was his first 100 at WS and he's only really been running for 3 years,he will be the GOAT of ultras soon enough.
He loves to say he's only been running for a few years. He was winng races and training in Kenya 6/7 years ago. So how long do you think he was training before then?
I like that a British guy has that range, love seeing him be competitive at things like WS and love seeing an ultra runner mix it on the faster stuff. But he is also a arrogant twt and that puts me off

A quick google search tells me he started age 11.

Power of 10 suggests that he only really started doing anything in a competitive sense 2016/17.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
