I've had my Garmin chest strap HR monitor for 3 or 4 years. I'm starting to suspect the numbers are too low on easy runs, specifically. It feels like I have to push harder than I did a year ago to get into the mid/upper 140s. On tempo runs, it seems to be about right (85-88% max HR) relative to my perceived effort, though, which is weird.
I've seen online that people have known it was time to get a new HR monitor because theirs started giving erratic values, but that's not what mine does. It's consistent across entire runs with no unusual spikes. Has anyone ever heard of a HR monitor reading low?
