Looks like he was right at 3:36 for his leg
Looks like he was right at 3:36 for his leg
3:40 Jager 3:36 Fisher 3:39 McGorty 3:38 or 3:39 Lomong
There at two of him now?
Shows you how insane 7:20 was
paced by Ahmed the whole way, FYI

Ahmed literally got the baton behind Fisher and then sprinted past him just to pace him. Fisher had the easiest leg.
I agree. Mo set Fisher up to run fast. I had them for the 100 to 500 at 56 low Fisher 55 mid Mo. 58 second lap 59 third lap
What do you think Grant should run next year at the Trials?
1500? 5k?
5k comes first, then rest days, then 1500 heats start.
Likely he will be entered in both.
Up until last week the 5k appeared to be his best event . . . but hard to tell now.
Both are possibilities. I think he could go sub 3:35 sub 13:05 right now
3:36 guy runs another 3:36 with a rolling start and perfect rabbiting the entire distance
Shocking
7:20 equals EPO
I am not stating that he ran out of his mind for the 3:36. Mo did all the work and Grant tucked in behind
Man, I would like to be able to run 3:36
Wish I had the talent and dedication; sadly I have neither.
So my hat is off to those few that can run this fast.
I should hope that Fisher can run 3.36, Justyn Knight did this a few years ago. Many on here see Fisher as a better runner than Knight. The excuse in College being that Fisher went to Stanford (so had to do some schoolwork) and Knight went to Syracuse (a step up from JC).
My next door neighbor played basketball at Stanford graduating 2 years ago. He missed class as much as he made it to class but graduated with a 3.5 GPA. He told me it was easier than high school to earn a B in a class. Once admitted, you are almost guaranteed a diploma and a 3.x GPA.

Kind of think they will still be running this Covid fear campaign at that time

Stop your nonsense.
Fisher ran 3:36 twice in the course of a couple weeks. Add that to his 13:11 5km and that is a stellar month of racing for a rookie.
Yes, Fisher is faster than Knight. What has Knight done lately a 3:59 for the mile?
Yes, by comparison, Syracuse is a JC to Stanford.
Bowerman track club has 5 Stanford grads (3 men and 2 women) on the team which probably makes them the smartest pro team in all of sports.
I have heard the EE degree from Stanford, which Fisher graduated with, is the hardest undergrad degree at that school. It says a lot that Fisher was able to complete it in 4 years and compete at the highest level in the NCAA.
The Bowerman team, both men and women, are made up of very high achievers athletically and academically. One could say and compliment them as a bunch of running nerds as well as babes and bros. A combination of talents that track kids and parents look up to.
In the world of pro sports these days, Nike has a set of pleasantly not so normal pro athletes in the Bowerman track club.

Sean McGorty is going to be facing the same choice. I would say that Centro and Chelimo are big favorites but after that the 2nd and 3rd places are wide open. It will be interesting to see if some of the college guys make huge jumps forwards. We sort of miss a season of progression.

So true about McGorty.
I wonder though if McGorty will do the steeple? He has the body type and the best training partner in Jager.
Good point to mention McGorty because he and Grant seem to be joined at the hip -- Grant has been following Sean around the track as his wind break since college and now they are racing each other on the anchor legs of these 4x400 mixed relays.
However -- although it would probably help Jager to have a training partner to replace Huling (retired), Hughes (left team) and Bayer (left team) -- very much doubt it will be McGorty.
Sean had bone spurs removed from his right heel a few years ago back in college, then had those well-publicized staff infection surgeries last year where he had more bone shaved from his right heel. There was a possibility of amputation at the time. Amazing what he's doing now, essentially racing at a high level on a right foot that's smaller than it should be. Landing on that foot after jumping over a steeple barrier seems like a recipe for disaster.
Sean is the only guy to have broken 50 in his relay legs -- and he has now done it twice. Also, he nearly beat Lopez in that 600 from their BTC #3 meet with a 52-mid last 400, again the fastest split of the race.
Given all this, Sean would also be a candidate for the 1500 at the Trials.
There will be a BTC logjam in the 5k next year as Lomong, McGorty, Fisher, Kincaid, and Hill will all be entered. So, it's possible that either Sean or Grant will focus on the 1500 while either Kincaid or Hill could move up to the 10k (joining Lomong & CD, although this is pure speculation).
By the way, doesn't Sean remind you a little bit of Chris Solinsky? Not quite as heavy but just as tall and broad-shouldered. When he's in a 5k everyone around him looks like a midget.
