we have xc practice like normal here
I'm not prepared to wear a mask for my lifetime
stop driving, it isn't that hard, you will save lives
There is no reason to even argue about this because it will never happen. There are a substantial majority of people out there who do not want to risk their health just so they can go to a bar or sit in an office doing a job that they can do from home. This is why the virus has been spreading so disproportionately in low income minority communities. They have no choice but to go to work and get exposed to the virus because they are working at the grocery store, warehouse, health care, etc. where they have no choice but to risk exposure. They are getting pummeled by the virus.
Also, the risk of a massive outbreak many times what we are seeing now is floated as a price to pay for heard immunity. But we do not yet know whether immunity to COVID 19 lasts. So far, it looks like immunity lasts about 4-5 months, which is on par for common cold corona viruses.
That raises the prospect of wave after wave of massive COVID 19 outbreaks as immunity wanes and a new outbreak sets in.

Everyone needs to realize that there's a new sheriff in town. It's no longer just heart disease and cancer that kills us, it's Coronavirus, and it's not going away.
We better get a vaccine that works, and keeps up with this, or winters are going to be a horror show from here on out.
That said, to address the OP question, if we just continued as before from this point on, it would soon be a Lord of the Flies deal worldwide. Everyone over 65 would die off sooner than they would otherwise, then the oldest people you'd see around would be in their 40s, then 30s, then 20s. Inside of 10 years, life expectancy would look something like 24.
nice troll

I was also going to mention that any hope of seeing some sort of normal economic activity during a massive outbreak would be a foolish assumption. I am in Houston where we are having about as bad an outbreak as you can have while bars are closed and people are mostly wearing masks. I tried to bring my car in for service at the local dealer (it is a 2020 and still under the free service plan). Over half of their techs were out due to the virus and they were not taking any new service appointments, only emergency repairs. Even if you can keep people from getting seriously ill or dying, you still have the problem of a virus with a R0 of 2-3 spreading rapidly and sending everyone home sick.

So far COVID has killed more people over the first 6 months than the spanish flu did. As an expert in the matter, I am sure you are well aware of that. Why aren't you doing an apples to apples comparison?
You're not putting this into context. The Spanish flu ended up killing 675,000 with a population of only 108 million back in 1918. To date, there are 155,000 deaths, and yes that number will continue to increase, but the U.S. has a population of 328 million - 3 times the number from 1918. The death rate is going down with coronavirus not up. Is your assumption that it's eventually going to catch the Spanish flu? Can you really predict that with the deaths going down?
Since you are a bit slow let me give you the context. Over the first 6 months of the spanish flu the estimates were 20-40k deaths. I.E. less than covid on a population basis but a still really bad flu season. And the death rate was almost zero by July. Comparing the results of something that is finalized to something that is still ongoing (are we 10%, 25%, 50% or 75% the way through) is just stupid. See the idiots who back in March said only 10 people were dead so what is the big deal.
And again so you are saying anything that isn't the worse ever is OK? You are happy killing say 1 million people as long as 75% are over 65? You are free to those opinions. Most people aren't going to agree.
It is a pandemic because the disease is worldwide, not because the statistics are the same as the Spanish flu. It is nothing like the common cold - for which we have an immunity - and despite the measures to suppress the virus over 150,000 Americans have died in 5 months. It has struck far wider than in the rest homes. Currently, over a 1000 Americans are dying daily and it is now being officially forecast that the toll will be 300,000 by the end of the year. We have no immunity to it and no cure. And people like you think it a hoax and that masks are an affront to your personal freedom. The virus has brought out another kind of sickness in American culture and you and your fellow conspiracy theorists are an example of it.

You, beyond any doubt, are a self-righteous middle class liberal savior, exploiting the working class for political gain. Despicable.

Actually, it's a pandemic only because the false reporting and fake news are worldwide.
.
The disease is nothing, and has caused no fatalities because it doesn't exist.

The non existent virus has only been spreading by fake news and false reporting like yours.

Are you invested in vaccination companies?

That' s more false reporting and fake news.
I'm in that demographic and I NEVER wear a mask when I go out in public.

NO stores are preventing me from shopping for not wearing a mask.

Just curious, do you think the 2018 Pandemic was also a hoax, and no one really died from the flu that year?

If you meant 1918 when 50 million people were killed by vaccinations, then yes, the story that they died from a virus was misleading and not truth. In fact, in the 1920s everyone knew that it was the vaccinations that were killing everyone. Since then the drug companies have been busy trying to bury the truth and the murders they caused, just like they continue to do now.
