The virus is not going away until everyone gets it or until we get a vaccine. Masks just waste time and delay the inevitable. If we didn't lock down in the spring, we'd be back to normal 100% by now...everything open to the full capacity.

The inferiority complex some runners have when it comes to football is cringe. Unresolved issues from high school? The players are well-aware what they're getting themselves into.

Football will be on by mid Sept little guys. Deal with it. I know your generation loves this lock down and drama, but experienced adults now better. Time to play and get back to school. Common sense and tough ness. Lacking huge these days.
I heard a comparison of 18 year olds from the WW2 era and todays. Back then when you turned 18 it was commonly accepted that you were an adult and all rights, expectations etc...were part of being self reliant and a productive member of society in whatever way you felt compelled/motivated or called to become. You were not entitled but had to WORK for your keep and uphold the responsibility of supporting a family if you chose to do so and church/faith was an important part of that process along with community.
Today, Obamacare allows a person to hang around until 26 years of age on parent(s) insurance, greater dependence on social welfare programs, tens of thousands in debt for college degrees without jobs after taking 4+ years to change majors and still can't figure out what they want to do, entitlement, no faith, more broken homes than ever etc....
It's not ever going to be a complete loss of society but it's not looking too good with current socialism/Marxist efforts and their propaganda tools of the media. I'm hoping they just keep poking the sleeping bear until it wakes the hell up and ends the craziness.
In some of our cities the most unstable are in charge.
My roomie works at Fox Sports and said production projects for Fall college sports are not the general production schedule.
You are either a troll or, quite literally, the stupidest person on letsrun. Or both, I suppose
Actually he is dead on right! How people can be brain dead and follow along like everything is hunky dory is mind blowing. Can’t wait til Nov 3rd when reality happens again. ?
Eat dirt Trumpkins. Stop wrecking every thread with your Trumpkin garbage.
Go back before 1900. If you were 17 and the oldest of several children and both of your parents were suddenly dead, you were put in charge of raising your younger siblings. The local judge would conclude that you were old enough to take over for your parents. That was especially true if the oldest child was female.
Big day today. Anyone know what time the meeting is? Any word on what went down at the Football Oversight Committee Teleconference yesterday?

Ivy League made their decision around 4. Could happen at around the same time if I had to guess. It’s been a pretty slow news week. Something big is gonna happen.

DII guy here; just looking for an answer at this point. It's frustrating that this meeting is being so guarded and secretive; our coaches haven't even told us about the possibility of a decision being made today.

Neither has mine and i’m an NAIA guy. Been training really hard even though I know that a season just isn’t going to happen.
This meeting will just push back the decision on fall championships until a later date. It will be up to the conferences who plays, and when. They will encourage schools to go conference only, and that is it for now. Mark my words.
Not totally related, but CA schools open a week from Monday, and they're STILL not sure how they're doing things.
Yeah, I'm not holding out hope. Say hypothetically that, with this decision being made entirely on a football season, UT goes into Florida to play FSU. Okay, according to state guidelines, the entire UT team would have to quarantine for two weeks meaning no practice, meetings, in person class; not to mention the possibility of bringing the virus back to the NARP population at the school. IMO, the only way for any seasons to happen, the NCAA would have to openly admit to the world that they hold athletics above all else, including public safety and that rather than developing student-athletes, they are more concerned with the dollar incentives of slaving athlete-students. No bueno but let's hope for the best and hope we hear something soon.

Disagree. It's well passed time that the NCAA sh!ts or gets off the pot. They are cornered and have to make a decision. What they definitely won't do is start a season they are going to have to cancel in two weeks when the numbers continue to climb and spike, unfortunately.
I actually 100% agree that's what they should do, I just don't think they will man up and make a decision yet. If they do, it will be based on the need of money brought in by football and thus conference only.
There is no decision happening today.
I heard scheduling in-conference only and only a few weeks out so nobody got stuck with a quarantined, scheduled team and the games/pairings could be reshuffled so those not affected could continue to play regularly. Not a bad idea.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
