It's over.
Any proof of this or just a bit of reckless speculation?
Granted, I wish they'd just pull the band aid instead of playing with my heart

Just pull the band-aid off yourself. No need to wait for their confirmation honestly.
Cancelled! No need for hype!
Time to pull out. P5 schools will establish their own association.
California high schools postponed all sports until December. Will do “fall” sports starting in Dec or Jan.
The state XC championship will be March 27.
I didn't realize they were in NCAA.
Been saying for months that this was happening. Nobody believed me. This is cascading out of control.
NOTHING will happen in 2020.
Thank you for your cooperation.

The winter and spring seasons will be cancelled too.
My son's AD just got word that sports are a go for NCAA D1 this fall. P5 schools in conference then revisit postseason.

Say What?
How can they have real NCAA championships without the Ivy League, Atlantic-10, Patriot League, America East, MEAC and the CAA?

Because the P-5 schools are the ones funding the NCAA due to the football/basketball television revenue. The NCAA doesn't really care about non P-5 schools/athletics. Sorry to break this to you.

I assume that comment was sarcastic because NCAA championships would look basically the same without the Ivy League and other mid-major conferences.
Can tell that most here only care about XC. Football is driving the train. Decision makers barely know that cross country is a fall sport separate from track.
The Legendary Olympics Four schools have already shutdown sports for 2020 per Hollywood TV. Others always copy these leaders.
There is no possible way to safely play a sport like football in this atmosphere of infectious disease that spreads like wildfire. NFL, NCAA, High School. Can't be done. It is an illusion to believe that "safe football" can be pulled off.
One or two brain dead offensive lineman violating the health and safety rules will be all it takes to stop the season.
Except two P5 conferences have announced that their fall sports will be conference only - no NCAA championships.
Pac 12 - conference competition only
Big 10 - conference competition only
Many more to come.
Conference only schedules in sports doesn't mean no post-season.
