Seems odd that there is no diagnosis yet. Possible hantavirus (rodent-borne virus usually found in the exurban areas out West)?

I saw he posted some instagram videos but they were long so I didn't watch them. It seemed like some people thought that he had COVID but now it sounds like he doesn't?
Sounds like Tommy is in poor shape, still in a medically-induced coma and about to be placed on an ECMO machine, if one is available.
Terrible situation for anyone to be in, I hope he pulls through.
From what I gather:
first he thought he had heat stroke
then he assumed he had covid19
then he went to hospital and was diagnosed as pneumonia but negative for covid19
then it was thought he had bacterial pneumonia and needed a lung biopsy
then it was floated that he may have Valley Fever
the ECMO machine he needs is really just to allow for a proper diagnosis
Terribly scary, hoping for the best.

Thank you for the update.
Praying for the minds to evolve and come together. Fight this darkness Rivs!
man. I hope he pulls through.
ECMO is basically an artificial lung machine. It is a last resort, a very, very serious indicator. They are flying him to another hospital now to put him on the machine, according to his wife. It is not a good situation, more like a last chance. One can only hope and pray.
Really tragic and shocking. He looks like one of the fittest and toughest people on the planet, so hopefully that will help him pull through. My prayers go out to him and his family.
Was talking to my DPT about this situation today and she said he more than likely suffered a severe heatstroke episode in the Canyon due to his peeing and throwing up blood. She then says him staying at home and not going to the doctor trying to self-troubleshoot probably had him a few days without a natural filtration system working properly (kidneys shot) and thus compromised his condition to where he is... obviously this is a DPT no knowing the details and going off my understanding of the situation. I explained to her the ECMO she said that is not a good sign, and did say that perhaps him being a DPT did not help as she said he may have thought he had the situation figured out and sometimes knowing too much can hurt us. We both donated and he is in our thoughts but she was questioning me why they didn't assess his kidneys and I hadn't heard it discussed on IG or here?
I can't imagine they haven't been performing routine bloodwork on a daily basis assessing his kidney function, among other things, from day one.
My best wishes to him too and hope he makes a full recovery.

Hang in there Tommy!
Part of the update from Tommy's father this morning:
The thunderstorm of yesterday passed and the transfer was successful.
He’s in the best place with the best people in control of the best equipment and most advanced treatment modalities in the universe.
He’s in the hearts and minds and thoughts and prayers of all of you.
That’s a lot of good news on our side of the Yin/Yang of the perpetual dualities that keep us balanced and centered and grateful.
The diagnosis is an extremely aggressive cancer called NK/T Cell Lymphoma.
That’s bad news.
The good news is that we have a reciprocal and proportional response.
At the perfect time we will balance the universe.
Life will prevail and we will taste the sweet fruits of victory.
Eyes up. Stout hearts.
Saw this update on his diagnosis from his brother on instagram just now - pretty heartbreaking to watch. Thoughts to them all.
Very sad. I wonder if it really was something besides the cancer that caused this rapid deterioration/hospitalization though. If that’s the case then let’s hope they caught the cancer early. Praying he pulls through.
I couldn't watch that entire video his brother posted. Damn.
It's very trite, but thoughts and prayers to the entire Puzey family during this time.
@ praying - the cancer is an extremely aggressive form and progresses extremely quickly. He is really up against it. Shocking and sad :(
Can't express enough how much I want this guy to pull through. Tommy is an incredibly tough dude and it's profoundly heartbreaking to see him and his family go through this. Really wishing the best for them.
I'd be interested to look up the survival rate of something like this but besides being difficult to know, it's kind of a "don't tell me the odds" situation and I'm sure we don't need that kind of speculation. All we can do is hope that his strength pulls him through.
Watching that Instagram video brought tears to my eyes. I don't even know Tommy that well. Started following him after CIM and was heartbroken to see what happened in Houston. There's no doubt that this guy has had a really tough year. How many people go from being in shape to run 2:19 and then find out they have lung cancer 6 months later?
Really hoping that he pulls through and is able to run again.
Absolutely brutal update. Trying to stay optimistic.
