Just among marathoners, I believe Jared Ward is a professor or instructor at BYU, and Martin Hehir is a med student.
Adjunct instructor is often a very part time job where you teach one or two classes. Just about the perfect part time job if the pay wasn't horrible:) I was told med school was easier than engineering and harder biology:) School is pretty easy to do in that you have a ton of time flexibility. What you miss out on is the socialization time.
I recently listened to a podcast where Julia Kohnen was interviewed. She won Twin Cities last Fall in 2:31 and finished 10th at the Trials (PR of 2:30). She works full time in the corporate headquarters of Panera in St. Louis and until the end of baseball season last year had a second job for the St. Louis Cardinals. She described her typical day as:
“My day starts at 5 a.m. with my running, then I work from 9-to-5 and when the Cardinals are in town, I’m usually at Busch Stadium from 5:30 until 11 or so,” she said. “Then I get some sleep and do it all over again.”
