If they were really committed they would boycott and refuse to represent a nation that oppressed them so badly
That would be best given the situation. The United States of America is the most racist country in the history of the human race.
#AllLivesMatter apples to all humans. Not just Blacks. Arabs, Caucasians, Jews, Rohingya, Palestinians, Uyghurs, Natives, LBGTQ, Koreans, Kenyans, Yemenis, South Sudanese, Slavs, Kurds, Gazans, all lives matter.
Yes, especially Emma Coburn.

think about it. we're alot better off in America than if our ancestors would have stayed beasts in Europe with feathers in thier noses and human excrement spread over their body hair to ward off diseases and regular sex with grandma and children and male villagers. oh wait, that sounds like fun, i want to go back to Europe....
I don’t think it’s a question of should they, rather a question of who. It’s becoming the norm for athletes to be vocal about their political beliefs, so it wouldn’t be a surprise like with Carlos. The olympics is unfortunately the only time track and field is actively in the public consciousness, so the athletes will know to use their platform then. I doubt any athletes will refuse to represent the US, however.
Personally I’d love if Noah lyles took advantage of the attention that’ll be on him to show his support of BLM. He’s the 200m favorite and he’s always dancing before and after his races, so I think the contrast of him being more serious and standing up for what he believes is right would be incredibly powerful.
The distance side of the team could have similar demonstration, but due to the lack of black American distance runners, I doubt the chances of something occurring. Donavan brazier being biracial and the 800m favorite could lead to a very powerful message around unity. Lopez and/or lagat could be a story for the ages in the 10k as African immigrants who believe in America despite its flaws. Doubt we’ll see those though.
Every Pro athlete will be virtue signaling. No surprise.
Its incredible the US is so selectively racist. Only towards blacks and Hispanics. But not blacks born in the West indies or west Africa. And definitely not asians or Indians. IN FACT somehow those group all do far better than whites.

Wow, you really don't know the sport today at all. Plenty of other names are far more likely to be on the podium in Toyko for the US.
It's not just USA athletes. The podium protest thing has jumped the shark. The host broadcaster and the world feed should cut away from any protest. Why feed the fire?
They cut away from ladies pulling off jersey in world cup celebration and they cut away from streakers. Anything controversial cuts the cutaway so why not protest. Apparently they enjoy the noise.
I don't know why NFL didn't do the same and cut away from whatever they found offensive?

because they aren't a precious snowflake with tender sensibilities like yourself
Dude...not sure why you have to take out the name calling card?
I don't care about protest. They are all kinda pompous.
Olympics are for sport, like this message board.

Wow, he has changed his tune. Anyone remember this guy from back in the O.J. Simpson days? It seemed like he was trying to be the next Rev. Farrakahn, all hating on whitey.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
