Jesus. I don't know anyone who could do that
Dunno how people haven't said this already but if you can motivate yourself to grind out a 2 hour run by yourself when it's -5 degrees and 60MPH winds, you have talent. You can be as fast as you want when you're 14 but if you don't put the hours in you'll never be successful.
You have no talent for running david45. You are not even average.
Try another sport.
Talented guy would break 5' mile with no training at all.
Not a very good idea. I know guys, who can't break 54 but could still break 4 in the mile.... In high school I could barely run 58 for 400m but had High School bests of:
400m: 58.21
800m: 2:01.00
1500m: 4:06.89
1600m: 4:24.35
3200m: 9:19.66
5000m: 16:08.00
10,000m: 33:16.00
5k XC: 15:31.00
College was a whole different ball park:
200m: 22.25
400m: 47.97
800m: 1:51.96
1000m: 2:24.35
1500m: 3:45.09
MILE: 4:04.35
3000m: 8:16.25
5000m: 14:17.05
10,000m: 29:05.07
5k XC: 14:51.00
8k XC: 24:27.00
10k XC: 30:56.00
But at $80k, the schools are free. Even at $100k, you would only pay about $10k. Why didn't you get in? Are you Asian? You told us a month ago that your parents were poor and had lost insurance and that is why you couldn't get an MRI. Now you tell us that your parents are making some nice money. I guess you can get your MRI and stop telling us that you have undiagnosed fractures. Which colleges rejected you by the way?
I also think that this is more the result of hard work than talent
BadIdea, nice progression. Looks like you went to a school with a good program.
I'm calling BS on those college times. No way you could run a 22.25/47.97 for 200m/400m and a 29-low 10,000m. All of your times are good across the board but nothing is exceptional. It's super suspicious. How would you have that much speed and endurance and not break 1:50 for 800m? A 52-53 opening split would've been easy with your other PBs.

I said my family was poor because we lived in California, which is expensive. Making $80k-$100k is poor here.

So many high schools never seen a single talented guy?
The bump on the outside of your sole and the tichness of your calves say something about running economy. You can't really tell by how fast people respond to running.

Do most good runners not have a bump on the outside sole?
correct, now stop posting about it.
I have an iaaf profile just don't want my name or info on this board. The 400m is a 4x4 split and the 200m was in practice. I was quick man probably 1:47 800m potential and 3:37 1500m in the right RACE. You are entitled to your opinion if it is either I have my info all over this board or you saying bs we will go with bs!!!
It is absolute BS. Nobody improves from 58 to 47 from HS to college. Impossible. Are you David posting under an alias?

Can you show me a picture for evidence?
But David, why didn't you get accepted to an Ivy? Are you Asian? Are you white? Are you just bad at decision making? Are you just dishonest? So you are going to UCLA and their standards are pretty high and you will be paying way more than an Ivy or Stanford.

How did you know what university I am going to?
Everybody has talent as an endurance runner. Most will never work hard enough to find out how much.
Go to the main page of Lets Run and read the "Why I Sucked In College" article. Print it out. Highlight and underline the part about "run two times a day, every day".
Think about this quote from Gordon Pirie:
"Many runners never suspect they have the ability to run at championship level. Most of
us have the ability to be consistent winners in our club or school. A surprisingly large
number even have the capability to win at the regional or national level, or to run minutes
and minutes faster on our 10 kms or marathons. To reach the upper levels of our
potential, however, takes years of dedication and intense, carefully controlled training.
Training involves constantly striving to remove weaknesses that hold us back. All the
great runners have spent years working their way up through the local and regional levels
before achieving true national or world-class status. Results do not come from the
previous month's training, but from years of dedicated development." (Running Fast And Injury Free. Pirie)
Look into exceptional runners and what they did differently from everyone else. If you want to be different, train differently.
