I was training for Brighton Marathon and was up to 17 miles before lockdown. I have deferred my place to next year.
I was doing training based on HR zones with most of my long runs being in zone 2. The issue was, I went so slow yet I was still in zone 4/5.
Since I have deferred to next year I am focusing on HR training with the aim that when I start training next year my zone 2 will be much faster.
Currently I can run 5km in 8.10 min mile, yet to stay in zone two I have to run at almost 13 min miles.... does this sound right?????
I have been doing it for about 6 months now (but really trying to stay in zone 2 for about 3 months)
When can I expect my zone 2 pace to inprove???!
My HR is set using garmin @ 130-145bpm for some 2 and I’m 42 years old.
Looking for any advice, insights and hopefully someone to tell me I’m doing the right thing! :)
