Ban all meatball privilege!
Well, Jacob, I'm sure will now be eyeing Steve Cram's 3mins 46.32 sec European mile record ( of course, that time was the world record for a good few years),
And, the kudos attached to a really fast mile is on a different level than anything achieved over 2,000m.

3:46.32 mile record is far superior to the 4:51.30 2000 meter record.
First is about 3 secs off El G WR, latter is about 7 secs.
My guess is that Jakob's 4:50 2000 meters is equivalent to a 3:48 miles, maybe 3:47
It's Jakob, NOT Jacob people. Put some respect on his name!
You might be right, but I remember Cram said that his 2000m WR was the one he found hardest, and that he had a tonne of respect for John Walker in setting the previous best. Cram was absolutely on fire at the time and could possibly have ran 3:44.
Cram's 800m, 1000m, 1500m, and mile PBs are far superior to his 3000m, 2 mile, and 5,000m times.
2,000m was probably the longest distance he was capable of running a WR in.
No it wasn't, in reality it was pretty boring. Man against the watch is nowhere near as exciting as man against men, even more so if there is something at stake, like a world or Olympic championship.
I've just caught a Youtube video of Drew Hunter running a 1 mile time trial; with the help of pacers he ran 3:57. That was just as exciting as anything at The Impossible Games, ie not very !

JAKOB INGEBRIGTSEN runs 4:51min for 2000m!!!!! Henrik and Filip also well under 5min.
I thought we had just come out of a 3 month locdown when elite sports people were unable to train properly? Didn't the Ingebrigtsens have an interruption in training?
I think it's hilarious that anyone is even considering him breaking El G's most obviously doped record. I mean, a 3:50 mile then an even quicker last lap of 54 secs!! It was fishy when set and looks even more ridiculous now.
4:50 in what was to all intents and purposes an exhibition display is extremely impressive in early June, almost verging on too impressive. I find Cheruiyot's lacklustre 5:03 at altitude with a break of 2 months in training a more believable performance. Here's hoping Jakob's run and potential is all down to natural talent and hard work, for if that's the case, then 4:50 flat is probably one of the very best clean runs ever at the distance.

Jakob has reportedly not missed a trainings session this year.
After a minor injury at the European CC championships in Dec 2019 he was aqua jogging 2-3 times per day for a while. Afterwards he joined his older brothers at altitude training in South Africa in January.
Also under the virus it has apparently been business as usual. Probably using tread mills a lot.
The brothers seem to have trained without interruptions as well. Henrik´s 2000m time equals 3:33.60 in the 1500. Not bad for a season opener!
This vid of Saïd Aouita running 4:51.98 in a failed WR attempt in ‘86 puts Ingebrigtsen’s run in an impressive perspective.

Cheruiyot is so far ahead (and has so much more 800m speed) that he will still easily win any upcoming, direct 1500m duel (and ofc also 2000m if he's fully fit)
Tim used his time off to plant potatoes as usual - except this time the potato was himself and he planted it on his couch
Timmy read your post.
He said to his younger brother; 'hold my potato chips*' and went out to train.
*In Kenya, chips refers to fries.
Chips are called crisps.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
