I'm not sure how all the reviewers have loved these so much, but wow these are rough for me.
They feel light in hand, they look great, the upper is awesome, and the speed roll geometry feels excellent.
But man the foam is just way too firm. I think I tend to have problems with higher stack shoes that are firm. They are reminding me of the Skechers Gorun Ride 8 that way. There is a lot of midsole under the foot, but it just feels like I am not getting any compression and rebound out of the foam. They might work well for heavy runners, since I am only ~125 pounds or so, but I really can't get any rebound out of them.
I struggle to get going fast in them and they don't have that effortless feel to them. The Next% are in a different league for me. The 4% are much better as well even if they feel more awkward underfoot. The Fuelcell TC is almost 2oz heavier and the geometry is not nearly as nice, but they feel way more effortless and get going fast way easier. The Skechers Speed Elite is so much faster and doesn't feel that much more harsh. Even a more traditional performance trainer like the Hyperion Tempo is way better at easier and faster paces for me.
For reference, I am probably in about ~16:30 5k shape. I feel like I struggle going 6:30 pace in this shoe. If I just run easy, I end up running slower than in normal trainers with these. I comfortably hit mile repeats in the 5:14-5:19 range in the Hyperion Tempo and comfortably cruised my 14 mile long run in it at ~6:40.
