In our Boston Marathon cancellation article we noted incorrectly that the 2020 Berlin Marathon had been cancelled. That is not the case. Race organizers have said it can not be held on its original date (as mass events with more than 5000 people are banned in Germany through October 24th. Berlin was supposed to be held September 27th).
They even issued an update yesterday saying they have no news and are still looking at options. "After our last mail it has become a bit quieter, we have been holding back on social media. Instead, we have been continuing to put all our energy into examining various options. We are being very cautious with the responsibility we bear as organisers. Every decision is also made against the background of the effects it could have on the participants, the attendants and the spectators along the course. Due to the size of the event and the multitude of people and authorities involved, we still need some time to complete this process."
Gives me some hope. What about you all? Plus the Germans have done the best of any Western European country in dealing with COVID.
