57 deaths reported today in Georgia. 1000 new cases the day before. 7 day death average highest since re-opening.
Are we starting to see the signs of the predicted spike?

You can't tell trends from one single date. You need to work on multiple day averages to smooth the data.
More deaths just added, up to 78 for today.
You sound disappointed that the predicted spike in cases didn't happen.
Just not enough info. Smoothed seven-day averages are useful--if you can rely on the reporting methodology to be consistent from one week to the next.
I would be very, very happy if there were no more COVID-19 deaths: I've already lost a friend. But it seems more likely that we'll lose a total of around a quarter-million this year.
Here’s the Georgia DPH link for their twice-daily COVID report. The line graph with the orange seven-day average is the best visualization. The shaded area on the far right is incomplete (natural lag from infections to reporting), but it may already be showing a second spike. Time will tell. I think we’ll know by mid-June.

I don't believe that when people predicted a spike they meant that there would be a single day a month afterwards where more people died than the typical day.
As long as hospitals can handle it, we are doing the right thing. Everyone will be exposed so having hospitals near capacity but not over capacity is ideal.
When data is reported doesn't tell you when it happened, and with this virus, it doesn't even tell you what they actually died of either.
It’s interesting how it seems like some segments of society root for a high death count and seem disappointed by low death counts.

dude, shut up.
tens of thousands more Americans are dying than normal......you have an explanation for that?
if not, just shut up with your pathetic ego-driven blathering. You know nothing, have no actual grounds for your posts and it has been demonstrated again and again .....and again... that you are waaaaaaay out of your element when discussing COVID-19. You were wrong and wrong and wrong again. Pathetically so. Of all the tin foil hatsmen on LRC , you have taken the crown as the most idiotic and egoistic.
What a sad life you must live.

The real problem is this. Reopening will work..
If this virus acts like the other Coronas, it’ll die out and hibernate. We will become super confident and victorious in July & August.
But what really would have happened is the virus is no longer seeded solely in nyc, Sf, and Kirkland. It’s seeded Everywhere.
Flu season comes back. Air temp go back to 49 degree and dry. And this newly mutated thing goes APE.

A lot of that segment is the Democrats - they want more death & destruction hoping that it will hurt Trump's re-election prospect. The Democrats also want to see the states with Republican governors that already reopened to have a resurgence in cases & deaths in an effort to prove the Republican governors were wrong. They want to milk this and continue to overhype the virus all in an effort to hurt Trump.
It's obvious that when Gov. Kemp of Georgia reopened the state all he got was flack from the Mayor of Atlanta who's a DEMOCRAT! If she was a Republican she would have supported the decision (who would have thought. Lol). In Wisconsin, the conservative Supreme Court struck down Gov. Evers' lockdown orders. He then whines that the Republicans are going to put the state into chaos. Lol.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/may/14/wisconsin-lockdown-ruling-supreme-court-republicansThis is all political now and has nothing to do with COVID-19. The states with Democratic DICTATOR governors want to continue lockdowns indefinitely dragging down their economies even further and then blame Trump for their problems (they also want Federal bailouts!). Most of the Republican governors want to get back to business and try to salvage their state economies. Some Republican governors even believe in protecting people's CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS and never shutdown in the first place!
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/apr/21/south-dakota-covid-19-coronavirus-freedomIt's all partisan now - Democrats vs Republicans...Liberals vs Conservatives...Pelosi vs Trump.
Get your popcorn and enjoy the clown show with Democratics (and the paid Democratic trolls here). ?

I knew it wouldn't take long for the first Democratic troll to respond. ?
Continue your fearmongering Democratics - it's going to cost you. Lol.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/thehill.com/opinion/finance/498291-democrats-will-pay-price-for-hurting-the-economy-in-the-election%3fampWow.....this is all so interesting! I was planning on voting for Trump, then someone posted a leftist article, and upon reading the headline, I changed my mind immediately! THEN, someone else posted an article from right-leaning website, and I changed my mind AGAIN! It just keeps going back and forth!
I'm so glad everyone on the Internet is educating me with unbiased information so I can make an informed decision! :)
Wrong, I’m an actual conservative not a fan boi of a New York real estate, reality TV conman in bed with the Kushners.
Close to 100,000 Americans are dead inside a few short months and our Vets are dropping like flies.
Yet all I see is a bunch of Cosplaytriots moaning about haircuts while real men who served die in hospitals without any real support from the right wing in their hour of need.
Stay home like Trump did in Vietnam.

Yup, Democrats are rooting for devastation. They want to make sure Trump is not re-elected. And now they see that they have a shot at mortally wounding capitalism and usher in totalitarian fascism aka “socialism”.
