Who did they pay to obtain these rights?
How can they stop me from showing up and streaming it on instagram or Facebook?
They can’t.

If you're not speaking hypothetically and live close by, I would 100% suggest making an anonymous facebook account and live streaming. This community would be forever in your debt.
Realistically there's nothing they can do, except try to take down the livestream.
Humidity isn't a problem. Once the sun goes down it'll be nice.
The most difficult part is how/whether to warm up.

I hope they at least pay for these kids' travel expenses since they are using their talent to extort money out of people. I know a Milesplit pro membership only breaks down to a few dollars a month, but more and more websites are requiring a subscription, and it adds up. Something about requiring people to pay to see high school kids run an event that they organized themselves seems slimy. It's not like Milesplit had anything to do with putting it together. They just made themselves the middleman.

Why wouldn't they warm up? Looks like 74 at the start & with the low humidity it will feel closer to 70. No wind. Dewpoint in the low 40s. IDEAL! They got real lucky & caught a break. I think forecast is calling for temps well into the 100s the next few days in Sacramento.
Milesplit has to be one of the worst sites for high school running out there. Their "articles" are almost always lists of results, many of which they charge to see even though they are results that are free on other sites.
When they do try to write editorials, they employ such hacks that it's often too painful to get through the whole article.
Frankly, I find it odd that letsrun isn't the hub for high school, college and professional running.
Please, someone else videotape this.

3) Good thing they will be social distancing on the starting line
Viruses are not living and are not contagious, so none of that makes any difference.
Some debate over if they are alive or not.
Clearly they are contagious.

Yes. Forever in your debt as they will never pay you, just like they won’t pay milesplit or anyone else who dares to charge for watching track. Exhibit A+ of why professional track can’t survive in this country.

This isn't professional track, this is an informal time trial involving high schoolers. If anything should be freely available, it's this event.

Feel free to fly out there and broadcast it yourself. What's stopping you?
I will start by confessing that I've never heard of any of these guys. I just don't follow this kind of thing. However, I just read the entire thread and have 2 questions:
Where is this? Other posters have asked and no straight answer has emerged. Does anyone know the literal, exact location?
Is there any impediment to any of you out there filming it? How can anyone have 'exclusive rights '? If there isn't an event organizer who can stop you, somebody do it!
Like I said, these aren't the kind of guys I normally follow but the thread has generated interest, at least from me.
ran this morning in the sac area and it was pretty gusty. Temp will be down by 815 but I’d be a little concerned with the wind

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. All I'm saying is that it's a bit absurd for milesplit to have exclusive broadcasting rights to a high school mile.
It seems ludicrous that they are blocking people who live in the area from filming this.

I agree. I don't see how milesplit or whoever can claim the rights to an informal high school time trial
Don’t know where this is happening but Sacramento is still sheltering in place. How is a race with fans allowed?
wherebis this happening? Is it held in the dark? Who is paying the school to turn on the lights? That is quite expensive!
Are they renting the facility and do they have the proper insurance?
Does MileSplit have permits to film this event?
Is the school and school district aware?!
Someone needs to alert the school principal to stop this so the ‘Rona is not spread and endangers the community!!!

People are on here all the time whining about having to pay to watch any track. And whining about having to pay to run in a road race. For an alt right den of iniquity that is this forum, capitalism seems to be a confusing concept
The point stands.

Wow. You must really not have paid attention in Biology class. There are so many reasons why viruses are not alive. And there is no debate. Anywhere.

Seems like an odd place to make your point considering this is an impromptu time trial for high school students, but I digress.

If they're not alive, how could they possibly be contagious???
Regarding the race, the video that I posted recently demonstrated that covid19 is not contagious.
