And actually, I had a chance to meet and talk to Ibrahim some years ago about his training. His average per week over the course of a year may have been 90-100, but when he was gearing up for a marathon, he would run two 25k runs one day and then just one the next, with an occasional slightly longer run. This is more like 190 than 90. It's funny that some of the runners who have been cited in this thread - Paul Gompers, for example - were actually paragons of high mileage training.
Dixon and Foster ,on the other hand, were relatively low mileage runners - or so they said to the press at the time.
