lincoln vs. lacrosse 4 by 4, whos winning it?
lax. won't even be close. lax will also take the team title somewhat easily.
good for the uaa guys, the nyu distance guys, the emory relays, and cmu mid-distance, and zach in the dec.
UAA distance runners are having a great track season - Abdallah, Phillips, Williams (NYU); Harvey, Quinn (CMU); McDaniel, Black (Wash U); the Boj (Chicago); Hrinda (Case) are all in the national field. Several possible All-Americans there, and at least one individual national championship isn't out of the question.
Stenuf of Nazareth placed 3rd in the 2006 NCAA. I see that he is not on the 2007 NCAA start list. Did Stenuf run at the ECAC Championship this past week?
Finnegan is the man. Right now he is out with a stress fracture in his femur.
and leventhal in the 800 -- not quite distance, i guess but oh well
Stenuf just missed getting in both 800 and 1500. Not the first guy out, but he was top 20 in both. Unfortunately, he ran his fastest 800s in 4X800 this year. He split a high 1:50/low 1:51 , just never got it together in a straight up one. He ran a couple of really good 1500s too, but I don't think he ran any races this season where he wasn't leading most of the way in.
its a long season wrote:

Yep, the UAA has gotten a lot better the last few years, which is good to see since everyone knows the academic reps of the member schools. It's also cool to see the conference pride at Nats, I remember hearing the WashU guys screaming for me as I was coming in the 4/4x4 - it's not about individual schools anymore, it's about representing the conference.
Yes, Garcia's record in national track meets is pretty weak, and I think that to say that he may be able to outkick Leer is a stretch, but then again, I think that it's a stretch for pretty much anybody. That being said, Garcia very seldom has mediocre races. My guess...he'll either be top 5 or a distant last.
There is no more honest effort rule so they can enter and fake out of any events they want.
Say what? Why would they get rid of the honest effort rule? That doesn't sound right.
Can anyone (like a coach, maybe) confirm this?
But why would anyone "fake out" an event at nationals? There's no Yuot this year who's capable of doing that and still running well. There's absolutely no point in running mediocre in the 10k the night before a steeple if the steeple is your best event. That's just setting yourself up for failure. And I would think it would only hurt the amount of points scored.

i haven't the faintest idea. i'm just trying to figure out if they rescinded the rule.
i can't believe they really did.
mabye she's going to win all 3???

no... too much talent elsewhere. i could see the steeple,5k but the 10k as well... no
I'm really excited to see the 10k too... SUNY much?
Hany Abdallah to get last in the 5k, Joslyn wins with a monster last 600.
This year obviously brings a strong field to Nationals. The 10k, 5k, and Steeple are among deepest I have seen, the 1500 has some firepower up front,, and the 800 isn't too shabby. While a lot of great runners will be at Nationals, there are plenty of strong guys that are being overlooked because they didnt make it this year, but would have been potential All-Americans last year.
A team I have noticed that produced a handful of National Caliber runners is Williams.
Tyler Gray Sr Williams College 1:52.26
Mike Davitian Sr Williams College 3:49.76
Colin Carroll Sr Williams College 31:04.67
Stephen Wills Sr Williams College 9:05.97
Chris Ellis-Ferrara Sr Williams College 9:11.99
Grant Burgess Jr Williams College 9:18.24
While only three of these six made it to Nats, this team deserves some respect. I dont know of many other teams who Provo'd six guys in the 800 up. Good luck at Nats to the Williams qualifiers.
North Central Provo'd 7 from the 800 and up
White, Pennington, Carrigan, Brady, Lesiewicz, Lancaster, Dunn.
Lets get back to making some actual predictions:
800: Zodda, Obrien, Pennington, White, Garro
1500: Leer, Butzler, then a pack of 7 too close together
5k: Leer, Joslyn, Erichsen, Boggs, Sigl
10k: Kaul, Sigl, Joslyn, Abdallah, Moran
steeple: Erichsen, Bristow, Ramon, Herlihy, Barr
