Also the issue is injury . . . he has no aerobic base (1.5 years running?)
seriously his legit 3:4X is respectable off low mileage for a beginner older runner, but he just couldn't put in the work for another two years.
pretty pathetic
Of course he could but he didn't even try, and now he's backed into a corner and can never come clean. He has let others stand up for him who haven't the first clue about running and believe he's a good man. You'll quickly learn he doesn't give a sh*t what *anyone* thinks as long as he can be seen a hero, that jacka$$ in the video is exactly who he thinks he is.

Not trolling here, but most of you know that.
Mike could probably run his BQ time with 12 months of solid mileage and say 50-70 mpw marathon plan targeting the race. He is basically running low miles then ramping up for a 16-18 wks. Those 10-20mpw are now allowing him to get the base for him to actually develop in the off season(s).
There is not a thing wrong with 10-20mpw for fitness and health. But you can't expect to run a good marathon on it.
12 months and 9 of those at 40mpw+ and he could get that BQ without cheating.
And if Mike is reading (I know you are) I sincerely mean all this.

The issue is injury alright. Any time he attempts to go over a timing mat, he gets injured. Doctors everywhere are baffled. I'm surprised this hasn't been written up in one of the medical journals as "Rfidium Mattum Syndrome" or something.
Exactly.
Rojo is getting a return on this challenge. We have something to discuss. Mike Rossi has another reason to believe he can be something more than a liar and a cheat. Barb can slither under her for-profit race management rock and Bart Yasso just doesn't care about running.
Funny, I've been thinking about trying some Altra shoes, have an everyday model I like. Was checking them out this morning online when I saw Altra promoting Bart Yasso. No sale today, not that they care.

Apparently Mike is going to pace someone at NY. I hope he gets called out often and loud.
"@Joe41062 I'd like to be under 6 hours. :) Seriously, I haven't trained at all 4 this one. Going 2 pace a friend running her first marathon"
I've heard that zero-drop shoes are really good for operating foot pedals. If you have a manual transmission, you can do heel-and-toe shifting.

He won't.
Approximately 50,000 of the 50,000 runners there know nothing about this story. There are about 7 of us who follow this story enough to recognize him in a crowd.
I'm all in on this thread from the start and would love to see him get called out, but unless Ken infiltrates the crowd, the odds of that happening are similar to the odds of him running 3:11.
Yeah, I imagine so. I can't see Ken paying for the privilege to take a chance on harassing him there plus with cheater Mike's security entourage no one can approach his parade.Bart and Barb will chop-block anyone near him.

You wish.
But, Ken might run that race for a charity, and then try to body-check Mike at every water stop. However, with Mike as the superior athlete, being able to run 7-minute pace, Ken won't be able to keep up for long.
So he is going to waddle it in between 5 and 6 hours with some friend at 7 minute miling ?
Elementary trolling school should have mentioned consistency.

Seems Mike has betrayed you. You've been reporting this past month that you've paced Mike through these fantastic training runs, yet our hero tweets he hasn't trained for New York at all.
Who to believe... who to believe?
It is possible Mike's "friend" is actually his pacer for a 3:25 attempt, although that is tougher than the 20 min 5k. Good gawd to think you have the cheater Mike Rossi sharing your first marathon finish, what a horror to realize later what you have done to diminish what should be a terrific accomplishment.

Things have changed. These training runs were before his (new) injury.
About the pacing, that's not clear yet. We have to see how the recovery/training will go during the next few weeks.

Let me guess... abdominal hernia? Probably from the strain of holding in his stomach while posing for that previously mentioned beach photo.
If you two are such close buds, you should have someone take a picture of you two during one of your runs and have Mike tweet it. It sounds like you see him every day.

A six hour run on no training as he claims on his Twitter is going to hurt like mother. That is a long time on one's feet.
Then again he could be just BSing.

Interesting dream of yours, Ken. Sounds a bit too athletic for you.
