"The no-frills race is free to enter. You can test your mettle instead of competing for medals. Registration begins at 5:15 p.m. with the race going off at 6:30. Racers are required to wear race bibs and sign a waiver, and a timing clock will be used, but times will not be recorded. It is also suggested, in the spirit of camaraderie, that participants bring a covered dish to share at a post-race picnic. Hot dogs are on the club."

I'm sure she will promote it as a good qualifier. She seems to be in over her head at managing a marathon.

I would imagine it's not so much that she is in over her head as she doesn't doesn't give a fvck about letsrun.
She seriously sucks though.

Imagine you fire the gun and off Rossi runs. She hangs around, sitting in a lawn chair for 45 minutes, maybe stretches a little, yawns a few times and then takes off after him.
You drive I-78 to the finish and high five her as she beats him to the line.
He isn't half the athlete she is.

There is a story out today about a triple-jumper, Ian Campbell who was cheated of a gold medal at the 1980 Olympics, and his national athletics body is now applying for a retrospective award of the medal (without stripping the one that was awarded at the time). The cheating in this case was done by an official disqualifying the medal-winning jump when it was clearly good. It's the reverse of this non-DQ situation and obviously at a different level, but shows that when it comes to righting a wrong, people will pursue it even 35 years after the event.
