I think we should just take a selfie saying that we're about to hold hands and sing, then not do it. Then we'll skip the entire three minutes of the middle of the song, but at the end, well then we'll hold hands for that one very last note, making sure the photographers are watching, and sing that very last harmonious note, "LAAAAAA!"
And then we'll duck our heads in our all-black uniforms and say that no one actually saw us skipping the middle three minutes of the song, so it didn't happen.

I think it's time to hit the Via Marathon with a class action suit for not DQing this jerk. I know what my reaction would be. Barb McKeever has diminished the honest efforts of those who ran the Via marathon by condoning cheaters. I think for damages the class of those harmed by McKeever's non-DQ could sue for a refund of entry fee at the least, then tack on training expenses, and some hourly measurement for the training time spent. Add on some punitive damages to ensure race directors get the point - this potential lawsuit is about integrity after all, not money.
So, do any lawyers out there with AOL email addresses, working from their basement, and renting office space with a few dozen other lawyers want to take this up? It might be the only way to change the outcome of this whole sordid story.

Someone needs to end this thread before you people hurt yourselves. You have gone completely mad. Lawsuit? You think a judge would hear this case? A judge would toss it in a second. What damages have been sustained and who is the victim? The point of a civil lawsuit is to for the " victim" to be monetarily compensated to an extent that the victim is put back to the position they were in before the damages (if any) were sustained. What damages have you sustained that warrants monetary compensation?
How are you still so angry over this? I was mildly annoyed when i first heard of Rossi cheating but there are so many other things in the world than warrant people's attention than Mike f'n Rossi

This was mentioned a long time ago. Everyone knows mike cheated and nobody has ever stepped forward to say they believe he ran a 3:11 marathon (who wasn't anonymous). The only mystery is why not DQ in the face of such an obvious cheat and where the rules allow them to DQ for pretty much any reason they like. It simply makes no sense. It is easier and less hassle to DQ. Rossi isn't suing anyone. Only explanation that makes sense is somebody is doing somebody a favor or covering up something. Their refusal to comment is also very telling. Why can't they explain their decision, what facts they relied on, who they spoke to, etc? Only reason that makes sense is they can't explain it because it was decisuon was made for an improper purpose.

Dude, I'm as anti-Rossi as anyone, but you honestly can't imagine a scenario where they just thought it would go away if they gave the impression that they investigated, half-assed it. I think most people here were giving them the benefit of the doubt during the "investigation" time and being respectful by not contacting them. Heck, SaraB only forwarded them the summary spreadsheet after I suggested here on this thread that we shouldn't assume they are taking it as seriously, or looking as thoroughly, as we were here. (probably a mistake in hindsight... should have bombed them & put the pressure on them in those first several weeks). It is very possible that in that month they were "investigating", Mike Rossi, via the scare tactic of working with a lawyer, was the squeaky wheel. Finally, human nature is to want to appear consistent, and not look stupid... so once they issued their decision, they will be reluctant to change it on a whim.
That, and as some other RDs showed in the Kip Litton saga, for whatever reason some RDs are very reluctant to DQ a participant, even when the evidence is overwhelming. For god sake, Kip Litton had multiple DQs lining up one after another and even then some RDs didn't DQ him. They weren't doing Kip a favor or covering up something.
For you to say "it simply makes no sense" is incorrect. For some reason, you can't imagine it or understand it, but it makes perfect sense to me. That's why I initially encouraged at least one person to make contact & share the info we'd researched here.
One good rule to live by is to never assume malice when incompetence will suffice.

Actually it is not far fetched idea and one I floated thousands of posts ago. The class could easily be established by those who ran the race in 2014. They all have a vested interest as their efforts we devalued by Mike Rossi cheating and the RD and Committee not fulfilling their responsibilities by DQing him or at least by be transparent in their decision, decision process, and providing more information, in particular, what evidence they have that he didn't cheat or that his time is accurate.
