Nuguse clearly showed in Rabat his limit to follow a high pace.
Also people make errors judging from single races made indoor three months ago.
To be fair to Nuguse, the pacing in Rabat was mental and the lights broke not long into the race. I have no doubt he can go a good chunk faster and I officially predict between 3.30.81 - 3:31.14 for 5th
Did Jakob said he was going for a PB? With all those big names, I think it's likely to see a championship-like race with nobody under 3:30.
I think you're right. It will be a championship-like race. But I believe Jakob has to run sub-3.30, maybe also sub 3,29, to win this one. And I think he knows that too.

Jakob and the entire field will get crucified by track fans if they run a slow championship-style race and the winner finishes over 3:30. No one wants to see that. Jakob prefers faster times anyway because he doesn't have an explosive final-100m kick.
They will be quick. Conditions will be good. Jakob is at a lifetime peak in front of his home crowd. He's going for the WR. I predict he runs 3:26.7-3:27.3 but will be pleasantly shocked if he drops our jaws with a 3:25. Hopefully the pacer is on point and Jakob stays out of crowd trouble over the first 400m.

His main goal this year is 1500, that is correct! But he will try to double in Budapest. He sees 5000 as a second chance, if he fails at 1500, or a bonus! Gjert said in an interview he will try to qualify for 5000 after the Olympic window opens, ca. 10. july!
He ran 3:30 at the WC at Eugene, it's not like he fell off a cliff...He beat a few recognisable purely '800' guys in that race a couple weeks back which I think was more impressive than the time. Factor in that he also beat 'distance guys' like Grijalva and Klecker winning the 3000m earlier this year (with a 27/26 final 400) and it would be foolish to discount him.
My point was not that Kerr has gotten “bad” or anything but merely he hasn’t flashed the Olympic bronze form since. If he did here, that’d be great obviously. Can’t rule it out, but there wouldn’t be anything signaling it was coming.

Nguse runs 3:47 indoor mile : he is going to smoke Jakob and run 3:26 outdoors.
Josh Kerr solo runs 3:48 indoors : he hasn't shown his Olympic form.

Is it really a challenge for you to write "Nuguse"?
Oslo Diamond League is not a Dream Mile this year but instead a LOADED 1500.
Here is the start list ranked by PR
CHERUIYOT, Timothy - KEN - 3:28.28 INGEBRIGTSEN, Jakob - NOR - 3:28.32 KATIR, Mohamed - ESP - 3:28.76 KERR, Josh - GBR - 3:29.05 MCSWEYN, Stewart - AUS - 3:29.51 KIPSANG, Abel - KEN - 3:29.56 INGEBRIGTSEN, Filip - NOR - 3:30.01 HOARE, Oliver - AUS - 3:30.12 GARCÍA, Mario - ESP - 3:30.20 HABZ, Azeddine - FRA - 3:31.74 LEMI, Teddese - ETH - 3:31.90 NORDÅS, Narve Gilje - NOR - 3:32.39 GOURLEY, Neil - GBR - 3:32.93 GRETHEN, Charles - LUX - 3:32.86 NUGUSE, Yared - USA - 3:33.02 ALMGREN, Andreas - SWE - 3:36.52 AKBACHE, Mounir - FRA - 3:39.81
Who do you see as the #1 challenger to Jakob? I'm still going with Yared but if you want to say Katir or Timothy I'll let you :)
For me, it's 50/50 between Tim and Jakob.
I know Jakob will perform but my real question is whether we see Tim in top form.

Nearly a second and a half difference in time with one guy running a time trial on the fastest indoor track in the world while the other ran a race on a standard track and smoked a solid field with a sub-26 last lap. Also I never said any of that stuff of course. Kerr ran 3:29 flat and has had no race since as good. 3:48 high at BU is not it. Nuguse just got 2nd at his first ever DL what is Josh’s top DL finish since 2022?
