Think it through a step further. We sacrificed much to save a few. Why not go all in? To be consistent, everything should be shut down for 2 weeks. Nobody c a n leave home for 2 weeks and the virus is gone.

Wearing a mask and social distancing is insanely easy and I can't understand why this is so complicated for so many people.
Even if they decide to protest the measures being put in place to keep them safe, it's too easy to dramatically decrease the risk of spreading the disease at the same time. There was a protest in Tel Aviv (not against safety measures, because people there understand basic science I guess) where the organisers marked out a giant 2m grid on the ground so the protestors could show up but still be far enough apart to significantly reduce the chances of spreading COVID-19 if they had it; most of them had masks on too.
I wish people here understood that the medical experts are far more educated on the coronavirus than any attention-seeking politician.

I really don't get why people still miss the point that this virus has incubation period of up to two weeks where they don't show any symptoms once they contract it.
This has been the main reason why it spread out so quickly, as it is easy for people to unknowingly spread the virus.
After that incubation period that's when people start to suffer, with different degree of severeness.

You are absurd. The U.S. deaths in auto accidents are in the 30,000-40,000 range per year.

Unfortunately these folks will endanger more than themselves, including the healthcare workers who'll have to take care of them later, and children.
Why don't you stop worrying about the people who should have taken care of themselves over the past 40 years and start worrying about the innocent? You should be joining in these protests.
They need to make these protestors all sign DNRs. And an agreement not to get treated if they catch the virus. No sense wasting tax dollars on these darwin winners. In fact if they die, liquidate their assets and put it in the coronavirus redistribution fund. At least the smart people will finally benefit from the stupid.

And if they violate social distancing rules, they should be required to perform community service in hospitals treating Covid 19 patients. They are not worried about catching it so they couldn't complain.
Were the patriots equally stupid when they openly risked nearly certain death and dismemberment to defy the British crown circa 1770s?

I hear this all the time, and no matter what side of the argument you're on, you should step back and look objectively at what you're suggesting when you say they shouldn't be treated or should agree not to be treated. We treat criminals in hospitals before they go to jail. We treat people who don't read warning labels on lawnmowers and do things most of us would think are obviously wrong. We treat people who try to commit suicide. There are groups who argue we should treat non-citizens crossing borders illegally for elective procedures. The list goes on and on. Stupidity and/or criminality is not and should not be a reason to deny emergency care treatment to an individual in the USA (especially if that individual can afford to pay the bill). Whether you punish them via community service later is a separate issue I'm not going to explore at this juncture.
The real crazies do not understand how constant propaganda changes their impression of people. Nazi Germany was the master but the current media is not far behind. You make excellent points. We treat criminals who have murdered people. But we should not treat somebody who is standing next to someone? The real offenders are the obese. The most recent stats show that the largest risk factor for extreme symptoms is obesity. These are the people who have chosen a life that was already takxing the Healthcare system and now overwhelms it with Civid 19.
