    I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this. Exclusive spiked vaporfly prototypes just for Parker in an NCAA final???

    How is this an even playing field?

    Now, let me be the first to admit, Parker could have slapped everyone 5 times in some dusty old dragonfly's, but this seems... unfair.

    Here comes an unperfect analogy: Can you imagine if Nike made a custom, juiced bat for the best player in baseball and, by doing so, he was able to extend the home record a little further, meanwhile all of the other guys are using whatever basic type of Louisville sluggers they're limited to?

    Because the shoes are legal under NCAA rules. No asterisk is necessary.

    Sorry (not sorry) not everyone has the money or connections to own the best legal equipment.

    It's like you guys didn't read what I wrote. I said that she could beat anybody 5 times in dragonflys. Heck, she could probably beat everybody in some Zoom Rivals from the 90s.

    That's not the point. The point is that Nike is using her platform as an opportunity to debut a new prototype that is unavailable to the other athletes on a day when the rules are meant to create as level a playing field as possible. In this case, the playing field is not level at the highest level of collegiate track and field.

    Also, it's no secret that AlphaFly/Vaporfly style super shoes with that much heel height demand less output from the athlete and therefore create less fatigue, speeding up recovery time. In this case, that recovery is obviously beneficial when you're talking about needing to run a 5k 48 hours after an all out 10k.

    Is Parker better than everybody else? Yes.

    Are the shoes legal? Yes.

    Is the playing field level at the NCAA championships? No.

    5 individual titles in 1 academic year*

    I don't understand your point. Some schools are poor. Some kids are poor. The juiced bat comparison doesn't make sense because you insinuated that the bat was prohibited. That is equivalent to using PEDs.

    Yeah but we all know you wouldn't even be posting this if the 19th place finisher wore VFs with spikes instead of Parker. So her performances and notoriety are the sole reason why you are bringing this up.

    Maybe the asterisk should denote that she has to train in an undesirable climate for running? Imagine how good she will be when she graduates and starts training in places like Flagstaff?

    Spiked VF were available to Nike athletes the first summer of track post og release. Jorgensen raced in them. Top Nike athletes at Nike schools getting spikes early/first is also not new. I watched the Texas Relays in 2008 and snapped pics of the unreleased Beijing versions of the matumbo and victory that the UT men were wearing thanks to Manzano.
