LHG should not be getting any prize money. Someone who ran in the Olympics would be considered an elite athlete. BAA clearly violated WMM rules by letting LHG=EPO run as an invited runner.

World Marathon Majors Statement on Elite Athletes Having Tested Positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs

2006-06-16

The World Marathon Majors – Boston, Flora London, real,- Berlin, LaSalle Bank Chicago, and the ING New York City – have adopted a policy whereby any elite athlete who has been convicted of a drug violation will have lost the opportunity to run in the individual World Marathon Majors events.

Directors and principals of the five races met on June 14 and 15 in New York City and formally took the position which goes into effect immediately.

Believing a clean sport is essential to the promotion of the World Marathon Majors Series, the events were unanimous in creating their stance.

Collectively, the World Marathon Majors directors said: "We'll do anything we can to deter anybody from cheating. The consequences of cheating have to be so Draconian that there's no incentive to cheat. If someone falls afoul of doping regulations, they will not be invited to our events. We must maintain the integrity of our sport, and it has to be us that push this on the athletes. Equally important, we have athletes who share our concern and our drive for our sport to become even more successful than we are currently."

Additionally, the World Marathon Majors directors said they will seek ways of employing greater testing at their events.

I would hope for better that what I described myself,and I could be way off base here -- after all, I would rather believe that the BAA gave her what they gave her thanks to an oversight rather than as the result of knowing her story and saying, "Screw it, she's been back for 3 1/2 years with no issues.". But I fear that you may be taking your own laudable thoroughness for granted.

Liza ran a great race today and pr'd in 2:33.55. That is her third marathon in 14 weeks, sprinkled with many other road races in between. Doesn't anybody out there think that something isn't right? How can she recover so much quicker than any other woman out there. World Champs Sept 1, San Antonio Marathon Nov 5, Dallas White Rock Dec.11.

Just like the Chinese chick who got nailed after winning a marathon a month or so ago. She raced and won in 2:21 something, tested clean. The next day she ran the Asian 10,000 and prelim in the 5,000. She ran a freakin'31:20 something. Duh,she is obviously dirty. And guess what, she tested positive. OF course she denied it at first, but then she had to fess up. What about South Africa's number one road racer of the year, tested positive, but because once she tested positive, she admitted to it. They are treating her like a hero for coming clean. What is running coming to. This is heartbreaking that people can so easily get away with it. What does it teach the next generation of runners. Why don't they random drug test at all money races? Why don't they strip these postive athletes of any and all championships and accolades they have ever recieved. It is too easy for them to cheat so they do.

There is no question in my mind that PED's have cast a huge net of suspicion across our entire sport. As such, I think the same rules that apply to sex offenders working in education should be applied to athletes. Yes, they've served their time, now register as a drug cheat and go find something else to do.

She appears to be an amazing person and runner to me.
