he spends too much time on the rail and wastes a lot of energy trying not to get knocked into the infield. Then wastes energy fighting to get to the outside and tries to kick. Just stay on the leaders outside shoulder and protect your space. He did well at NC last week not letting ruthe get in front of him. He needs to do more of that.
Hocker is Hocker. Reigning Olympic 1500 Meter Champion. Reigning World 5000 Meter Champion. Olympic 1500 Meter Record Holder. Slayer of Jakob in Paris and Tokyo. Best Closer in the Sport (when fresh). Hair of a Model.

Yes, he should run like Colin Sahlman and “stay out of trouble”. You never get boxed in from lane 3 and 4.
I looked. I can’t find any meets before March 8 deadline (other than HS meets). Is there anything? Again, did anybody ask them?
Green just ran a 3:50 at the Husky Classic 2 weeks ago…doesn’t that count?
Auto = 3:34.50 (3:52.00-mile), right?
Washington doesn’t count I don’t think. But look like they’ll need to cook up a meet for these guys. They have training partners to pace and the 1500 guys easily have the fitness so I’d like to think it’s close to a formality barring injury/illness.

WA should honor the results of bonafide trials races and give them auto standards.
Plus the 1500/mile conversion should be 100% done.
Or better yet, how about this? The rules are very clear, so anyone who is interested in going to world can maybe just ensure they run the standard?
Also, hey Rojo, why is that I'm getting a "Please do not use profanity" flag and unable to post your quote without editing your profanity out? What is the point of setting up rules that you don't follow yourself? Did you put that in there just to make it harder for people to quote you and call you out on your crap?

Yeah, certain guys who are mods, but will neve admiit it, get away with the same and a few other tricks that will get anyone else stopped or even instantly banned. And speaking of bans, have any of you been told you’re banned, and you see it’s for a poat you didn’t make? I know it’s happened to some others and it’s happened to me. Strange. And the bans are all for posts that apparently offended obnoxious leftists judging by the content. I’ll bet those whiners never get banned. 😎
They can’t “cook up” a meet according to the rules. It needs to be on the calendar
The more I look at it, the more I think that Ciattei and Nuguse are in.
Unless they fly to Ireland
I guess I don’t know the particulars of getting a meet on the calendar. If it’s impossible to make one up and they’re leaving athletes out for arbitrary/dumb reasons like a mile conversion (Houser) and an oversized track (Green) in a country with a zillion qualifiers, you just have to ask what exactly World Athletics is trying to do? Strip obviously qualified athletics from a nation that is going to send two no matter what? For what purpose exactly? Literally nobody outside of the US would cry foul if they let the US send the top 2.

In don't see how Nathan stunned the world. Please explain. Is this even an upset? The favorites were tired from yesterday?
Is this an upset? YES YES YES. 96.7% of the people picked Cole. 3.3% picked Yared. I'll have to ask Weldon is ANYONE picked anyone else.
Tired may have been part of it but I think it was mainly two things.
1) It's hard to win a 1500 when anything but a win is viewed as a disappointment. Ask El G and many others about this.
2) You simply can't win if you work hard in the first 3/4ths of the race to get PERFECT positioniong with 450m to go and then you toss it aside foolishly.
Cole is starting to be a little too much like Beamish for my liking. Dude, stop letting yourself get gapped. You don't want to need a miracle in every race coming off the penultimate turn. At least in outdoors there is still 300m to go. In indoors, it's only 150 and running wide punishes you more.
Agree. The primary rule when racing Hocker. Never move out of lane 1 if you can help it. Make him run around or stop him going on the inside by eliminating that option. If he wins then good luck to him.
