For those thinking order....and why 3rd leg is or isn't a good spot for Richardson.
1st leg = Great starter required but also someone who can hug the line with baton in right hand. Gardner
2nd leg = Longest leg goes to Thomas who needs a little room to build steam but can carry longer at top speed.
Baton in left hand. She is long as well (Tommy Smith) which makes for great "free space" on both exchanges.
3rd leg = Consider Calvin Smith to Carl Lewis. WR holder in the 100 but WC twice in the 200. Dude blew the 84
Games wide open leaving a slower starter Free and without pressure to win his 4th gold matching
Jesse Owens. Don't kid yourself, Richardson can run a fast turn too. Short, compact for taking the turn at
high speed, right handed, and strong finisher. She will run through the exchange and chase the anchor down
the homestretch yelling in her ear the whole way.
4th leg = Most controversial leg.....Prandini. Needs a fast running start but once up to speed can be very difficult for
the Jamaicans to run down. They will panic once Thomas opens up a can on the backstretch. Richardson
stays focused and can be the key like Calvin Smith to make Prandini's job less stressful. Prandini has a good
head on her shoulders. She will do her job and won't screw up the exchange. She will fight hard to the end
to honor the other 3 not thinking about her own personal glory. She's a team player.
The key is getting the edge on the backstretch and everyone blasting through the zones and staying focused on themselves and not what's going on around them. Discipline, Focus and Determination by these 4 = American Record and possibly an Olympic Record. Getting through the rounds with alternates is always a problem for USA. Richardson will have her glory as "That Girl" that blew the race open on the 3rd leg.
