Ken admitted to having made mistakes in the past and has moved on with his life. Why can't you bring yourself to do the same, Mike?
I don't know Ken Stillman, so he may be a good guy or a total jerk in person. Either way, I respect the fact that he owned up to being wrong, rather than lying and trying to conceal his mistakes the way that you are.

Going with the accomplice theory, what would it take to get the accomplice to out Rossi? Does Rossi have some dirt on him/her? I say the Smoking Gun or Brojos would offer $10k for the true story with evidence.
After what Mike did to that principal I think the accomplice knows better.

the missing 10 minutes wrote:why do you think an accomplice , isn't it more likely that someone who wanted in to Boston and had never been through the process before, would know that there is a cutoff to qualify but that within that cutoff they take the best times, therefore figuring heavy demand that year on Boston, they would give themselves what they thought was a safe buffer of say 10 minutes
the experienced runner might figure they only need 3-4 minutes at most, but if you were bent on getting in you would want the buffer
No, because it's that 10 minute that make it so that Mike Rossi would have to be one of the greatest athletes of all time to have improved that much in such a short period of time.
He jumped onto the course figuring he'd end up with a 3:21. But his accomplice neglected to tell him he race started late. i wonder how many times Mike has yelled at him for this mistake? Or maybe it was a buddy at East Coast and he's been fired over it. It wouldn't surprise me.
Can you even run for 10 minutes?
Personally, I doubt that Rossi knows anybody who would be able AND willing to run most of a marathon at faster than 3:11 pace to help him cheat. Some people cheat to get into Boston by having somebody of the same gender and similar age (if they're smart) run a marathon under the cheater's name. This is hard to catch - especially if the cheater's accomplice doesn't run a local course, where they may be recognized. This didn't happen at Lehigh Valley, though, since we know that Rossi crossed the finish line.
The only way that I could see your accomplice theory being realistic is if he had the "accomplice" cross the line on foot, then slip off the course/remove or cover race bib, before BIKING the length of the course, and handing the number off to Rossi near the end.
I don't know how vigilant the race organizers are about keeping bikes off of the course but, based on the lack of timing mats and the non-DQ, it doesn't seem like the race director takes the race very seriously, so maybe somebody could bike while carrying the bib and thus set off any potential timing mats along the route.
I still 100% think that Rossi acted alone though. I doubt that his massive ego could withstand the notion of anybody - even an accomplice - knowing that he cheated. Also, even if there had been timing mats, it's not like the race director at THIS marathon was going to go through the results looking for missed timing mats.
From the Via statement: "“After a thorough review of the available evidence in relation to Mike Rossi’s participation in the 2014 Lehigh Valley Health Network Via Marathon, the Marathon committee concluded that while there is data from Rossi’s participation in other racing events indicating that Rossi’s time may not be accurate, there is not conclusive evidence that his time in the 2014 LVHN Via Marathon is inaccurate."
I was thinking on the drive home what time Mike might have run that would have caught their attention...from the statement it seems none.
What if Mike Rossi had run a 2:59? A 2:40? What if he really messed up and ran a 1:59:59? Using Via's statement, they would have accepted his result, although realistically I'd like to think had he won the race or finished in the top 5 those folks would have been acutely aware of him.
Still, if we apply Via's statement as is, Mike could have won this race and not been disqualified.
So Rossi would really have to trust the accomplice. Has anybody tried identifying connections between Rossi and another runner that could have helped him get the 3:11?
Maybe they ran similar races? Or also ran Boston?
If there's an accomplice then there should be a link with Rossi.

It makes no sense for Rossi to use an accomplice, if he was going that route why not do a much bigger race with more people and timing mats so there's less of a chance of standing out. Rossi hand picked one with no mats for a reason.

You thought this is something the forum needed so you took the time to share your thoughts? It's called semantics you freaking moron. Oooh, what if he broke an hour, would he still win his age group?
No, Rossi definitely used an accomplice. The real question is how far will he go to make sure said accomplice keeps quiet?

His wife is the accomplice. 100% sure.
I am sure she will bring out the truth when they eventually divorce.
