Mo in 7:22 shape now???? Not even close. He struggled to run 7:32 not that long ago and here couldn't win a 3:31 race. El G ran just 7:23 with a 3:26 and 12:50, both faster than Mo's ever run. Of course, you would think Mo could have beaten 12:50 in crushing guys who ran 12:46-7 in past years, but never 7:22.
In my view Kiprop was simply protesting against the bad treatment of his manager and agent and also the many frequent blood doping test that had been targeting him.In a period of two weeks he was tested 4times which is frankly ridiculous. Kiprop simply chose to loose the race,he is in shape and could have ran a fast time.

Kiprop chose to protest and lose the race by going out at world record pace and then finishing in 6th. This would make the people in Monaco a little upset since they paid some big appearance money for Kiprop to come run at their race.
I guess Kiprop showed them with his protest 6th place finish.

The events he decides to do depends on his best chances to win gold in sit and kick races. That's Farah's #1 concern - to win medals NOT to do his best event and NOT to compete against the best.
Plenty of runners choose their best chance to medal instead of their best event. If you don't know this, then you need to watch the sport more.

i don't care if his pb is a 3:24 1500m world record but a lot of people on this board (i'm guessing most are younger than 24 years old) want times not medals. they'll come around in a few years
those gold medals are worth way more than a world record or a 3:28 PB kiddos

Farah's medals have all been slow races against joke competition. 3:28 is the only time that has ever shown him to be gold-medal class.
What is the best 1500m ever run by a 33 y.o.?
Even Lagat was "only" running 3:32.75 by the time he was 33.
I would not be surprised if Farah got a single age best in that race.

He had 54 low, 1:50 pace, company on the 3rd lap, and died terribly. That pace was ideal for a sub 3:30.

The pacemakers fell apart from 700-1000m. Kiprop was up so close to Kivuva that he ran right into the back of him when stepped aside at 1020m, stumbled, got overtaken by Iguider, and then his heart wasn't in it as WR was gone.
The man spent the spring destroying his compatriots in training and races, demonstrating he's quite probably in his best shape ever, and he ran 3:26 last year. He's obviously capable of running well under 3:30 again this summer.
Unlike El G, he's not a machine that cranks out sub 3:30 on a weekly basis without it taking a lot out of him mentally and physically.
No sense of an excuse. Kiprop lost no ground and was not affected detrimentally when the pacer got in his way. Just because the WR was gone doesn't mean an elite like that would just give up!
And that 59 third lap should have meant he pulled well clear on the last lap and won easily, IF he were in 3:26 shape. It was clear he couldn't hold on to the pace and slowed dramatically down the back straight.
He is nowhere near 3:26 shape. More like 3:29/3:30
This "joke competition" - that'd be Kamworor, Tanui, Gebremeskel, Merga, Gebrhiwet, Koech, Longosiwa, Kejelcha, Rupp, Ndiku, Soi, Rop, Alamirew, Lagat, Kipkoech, Edris, Karoki and on and on.
He beat the best other 5000 man of his era in 2012 in Gebremeskel. He beat the best other 10000 man of his era in 2015 in Kamworor.
Not his fault that there hasn't been a peak Bekele or Gebrselassie to compete against.
Just because there was once a time with Geb/Komen/Tergat and following that a brief period with Bekele/Cherono/El G/Kipchoge doesn't make this period weak. Those were the historical high points of international track distance running.
