great article. guy comes across as humble as any. injuries had him leave the sport and find a way to make a living.

didnt seem to make a mockery of the event. legs cramping during his interview shows he wasnt out there for shits and giggles

At the back of that field, it's some combination of determination or genetics. Genetics in the case of the runner being discussed.

There had to be somebody that got a video of it somewhere out there? I heard from a few people that they saw him walking several times... I would imagine somebody wanted to record that?

they should have given the spot to the first runner who didn't qualify.

Why allow someone to run that didn't

qualify? Might as well let everyone participate at that point.

Better way to go would be to have a shorter qualifying window, get rid of the half-marathon qualifying and toughen the marathon standard to 2:15 for the men

and 2:35 for the women.

Barnicle qualified within the rules set by the USATF.

Going from half to full is two different kinds of racing. If the speed isn't there for the half, then the likelihood a full comes in faster isn't good.

Barnicle haters, why aren't you trashing the athletes who qualified and couldn't complete the 26.2?

Yesterday, Dathan Ritzenhein, Brett Gotcher, Benjamin Bruce and the other 60+ men failed to complete the distance. They should have all been forced to take the shuttle to the finish line to wipe the sweat from Barnicle's giant balls.

DNF isn't a good look.

Rupp qualified via a half; Meb and Ward via a full marathon.

On the women's side, the top three had both half and full marathon qualifiers.

You gotta love this guy.

In high school Barnicle asked me what my PR was in 10 grade before the mile. I said 5:04, but I think I can go under 5 today. He said, "Your too big to go under 5 (in a prick kind of tone)." I ran a 4:53, not great, but proved him wrong and he rubbed me the wrong way.

But now I can officially say I ran a much faster marathon than Barnicle woooooooo

Yippee skippey, he has run just over 28 for 10k and 1:02 for HM.

Quitting is much worse than marketing pot or running a 3:45 marathon. PBR is sh*t beer but that is hilarious.
