Who else loves seeing the cocky and arrogant Centrowitz get utterly smashed in a race?
I'm sure some will say, "3:32 is good." So what. Place is what matters. He can medal at a world championship event because each country can only take a limited number. If they simply took the top 48 times from the world list he would never sniff a medal.
Forcing runners to run certain meets and preventing them from others would be wrong, because it would be infrigement of their freedom to make their on personal choices with their running careers. Many runners, unable to compete and have the competition they want, would find the sport not worth the cost to keep going. Already the USATF is unweildy and unhelpful. Making that worse would NOT be good for the sport. Consider the reason attendence was low at nationals, was because of it being a USATF meet.
If we have to use a bit of a bully pulpit to get people to do stuff for the greater good of the sport, so be it.
It simply means you're unresponsible and unconscious.

I don't know who that is???? A football player? If so, it has no importance on a forum about running.

He skipped USA's to get to Europe, get through jetlag, get acclimated and focus on his goal of becoming a consistent 1500m guy in it to win it in every race.
That's his seasons goal.

I don't like how Centro skipped USA's, that opportunity is something that hundreds of runners fight for and many would kill to be able to win like he has in the past. But at the end of the day, there is a valid reason he ran at Lausanne. His average finish in Diamond League Races is 11th, which does not compare well to his world championship finishes. It is a non championship year, this is a year where Centro needs to become great at running fast and finish higher in these Diamond League Races. He has great position in the tactical races, but if any Kenyan would hit the gas in a championship race he would be toast. Not happy that Centro skipped, but for the long term goal hopefully it works out.

There are only two things that matter; medals in championships and good times. As far as legacy is concerned, no one will remember or care what place he got in that one diamond league race (or every diamond league race.) They will care that he has two World Championships medals, and a handful of good times.
His resume is at this point quite superior to the vast majority of American distance runners in history...and Id be willing to bet it only gets better.
I know this has been said 1000 times but they really gotta stop having 12/15 runners in the field wearing the exact same Nike yellow singlet

Part of being an American is that you have the right to the pursuit of happiness that you choose - not what the USATF or Michelle Obama tells you.
If your goal is to become one of the best in the world it doesnt make sense to run at usas...
At the same time, Nationals is where you give back to the sport. Up and comers get a rare opportunity to improve themselves by pushing themselves against the best in the country, in the same way that today's elites were able to do when they were coming up. No legal obligation but I think that, if you care about the sport as a whole, you show up. Nick Willis flies back to NZ specifically to race in national events. I'm sure it is an inconvenience for him, but he understands that his presence helps to lift the sport at local and national level.
