I really think the WMM should have one super wheelchair race a year. They don't need one at every major. There are so few wheelchair racers to begin with, it's a logistical nightmare to close the roads just for them and they already get way too much tv time given the interest.
stupidest idea I've ever heard
Why is that a stupid idea?
I personally don't want to watch the wheelchair races.
I personally don't want to watch the wheelchair races.
I want to watch running.
thats why its not gonna happen. Pinning a wheelchair race to each major is the only reason why anyone ever watches or thinks about wheelchair racing. they're not gonna reduce the 8 races that get eyeballs to 1.
Bates generously breaking the wind for the lead women. Hall stride for stride with Obiri. Hope they can pull of decent performances, Hall seems extremely fit and healthy right now.
Last year's coverage was great for the elite races, I agree this year so far hasn't been as great. That said, none of the pro races this year are all that exciting. For the men, will Evans Chebet three-peat. Women, will Obiri win? How will Emma Bates do? Otherwise, that's about it. The wheelchair fields the people expected to win it by a large margin are about to.
It blows my mind that they are 2 miles in and we don't even see the men running nor have we gotten a single mile split.. From the press room.
4:32 first mile for Yuma Morii. He is swallowed up by pac 4:48 (9:19 at 2 miles)
It blows my mind that there are still expectations that these broadcasts are going to show what we want to see. Rojo, you guys should spend some time and energy finding ways to improve these broadcasts.
I mean the wheelchair guy just hit the half marathon in 35 minutes. You couldn't drive it that fast if the traffic wan't blocked off.
I'm supposed to be watching a running race, not something closer to formula 1.
My biggest issue is that these aren’t really races. They’re time trials almost every year where one good wheelchair athlete in each event breaks away by Mile 2. They are beyond boring to watch.
