I know it sounds crazy, but I’m more confident he will break the 5000 record in the next year or two than the 1500. Heretical, I realize…..
I agree actually I think it's more likely that he breaks the 5k WR next year than he breaks the 1500 this year. Jakob has said he thinks he'll be better at the 5k, and it's probably the general consensus at this point.
The last part of my post was specifically talking about getting the 1500/1m/3k/2m/5k records all this season. If for no other reason, it probably won't happen because getting 5 races with good WR pacing and still having a good enough day to break the WR is close to impossible. If he breaks the 1500m record in Oslo though, that might all change. 2 WRs in 6 days would make it feel much more likely since it'd mean he was definitely capable of running the 1m/3k records. And it's so early in the season that we're in the middle of NCAAs.
I think we'll look back and see Jakob beating Cheruiyot in the 2021 Olympics as the start of the Jakob era, similar to how El G beating Morceli in the 1996 Milan Grand Prix was the start of the El G era, or Kipchoge winning 2015 London was the start of the Kipchoge era.
Bonus: I'm tired of super shoes comments. From now on anytime someone says "tHeY wOuLdNt hAvE rUn tHaT fAsT WiThOuT tHe sHoEs" I'm saying the old WR holders wouldn't have run that fast without EPO. El G/Komen set their records before I was even born. If the only reason 1 person in 20+ years has been able to run that fast is because shoes are better, there's no way the records are clean. Luckily, I choose to believe that the shoes don't help that much and the old records are clean, so I get to enjoy new performances to the fullest extent.
More so the lights that had him reeling off dead perfect splits but whatever you choose to believe.
Jakob fanboys: “7:58 was a doped record.”
also Jakob fanboys: “All hail the cleanest runner of all-time!”
also super shoe deniers after one more WR goes down: “Jakob beat an unbeatable, doped-up record off good ol’ fashioned determination and hard-work - oh, and he’s a 5th-year senior, didn’t you know!?”

Is Jakob doping? Well, I can't think of many WR holders who have over a decade of consistently improving results, training with Olympians since age 10, and a reality TV show documenting their life for years. He doesn't seem like the most likely candidate imo.

also doping control in norway is much better than in african countries

Good thing no one gives a crap.
Ha! Perfect.
These folks just cannot get their story straight huh?
I agree, anyone who runs times that are too good to be true and/or that occurred during the "doping era" are/were clearly not humanly possible. And the jealous people who new modern say shoe tech have b made times faster are just that....JEALOUS.
BUT...Yakob just ran 7:54, without any PED's because..... he's an exception. An exceptional exception! NO PED's and NO shoe help!!
The Men's 2 Mile was scheduled to start at 2:42 pm ET (USA) whereas the Women's 5000 Meters was scheduled to start at 3:24 pm ET (USA). Even as I type it is less than an hour since the scheduled start of Kipyegon's race, let alone of her setting the record.
I was going nuts when I saw that time, and the way he ran it, splitting 7:23.high??? To think he would've not been far behind El G's all out 3k and then kept going for 218m... Am I crazy to think we might see 3:25, 7:19, 12:29, and maybe even more up to the half marathon before this man is done? The possibilities are thrilling to think about.

Right, because as we all know, dopers don’t improve or have TV documentaries made about them. The fact that he’s been training since he was 10 means absolutely nothing.
