If you come back and see this, can you tell us how you feel about what Mike Rossi did to the principal at his kid's school? How do you feel knowing that the whole story is based on a lie and that he not only didn't qualify for the Boston Marathon, but he had taken somebody else's place who DID train extremely hard to get there and was refused entry?

And with that, are you still going to book any of his services? If the answer is "no", will you tell other couples to stay away when they get engaged as well?

No kidding. You seriously expect a group that accepts the most specious of race results to care about the integrity of a race?

I just remember one of the last big cheater threads about that woman in the ultra. People started to look in to all the "race" results she was credited with by MM and most of them were bullshit races she put on herself that were self-reported.

Maybe it's not about what they can do, but about letting runners know about a cheater and a marathon that won't stand up to him and his lawyer. They do have a lot of members.

Nothing. Most maniacs are clueless weekend warriors. And Mike's story has been shared on their FB group, some people actually supported him. Yawn.

This conversation happened in one of mike's youtube videos 3 days ago, and was quickly deleted. I'll post it here to keep a record of it:

What did we learn from this chat? Mike is definitely reading letsrun. He knows us by our handles hahaha

It's a common extremely weak argument that the notion of something being "not impossible" is translated into meaning that it very well could have happened. It's usually used by people who are obviously wrong (or guilty of something) to mess with the minds of well-intentioned people. This is also often combined with the compoundingly illogical argument that the other party is required to disprove every other possibility before you "prove" something happened.

At the heart of this is the confusion people have over the difference between "probable" vs. "possible". This is likely where VIA went so wrong. They focused on whether MR's 3:11 was a mere possibility, rather than if it was probable. A mere possibility is a ridiculously high standard which could rarely, if ever, be met. Nobody could ever be convicted of a crime if that was the standard, and it is not.

The question that VIA marathon really needed to consider is simply, is it probable that Mike Rossi ran the VIA marathon. It really isn't at all probable, based on the photographic evidence. If they then asked themselves, is it probable that Mike Rossi even ran a 3:11 marathon. Again, the answer is that really isn't probably that he ran a 3:11 marathon based on his past run results. When you combine the two questions, running a 3:11 marathon and not being photographed, it becomes so improbable as to be ridiculous to even consider that he did run a 3:11 marathon at VIA while not being photographed on the race course. It would have, and should have, been an easy decision to disqualify him, they were just asking themselves the wrong question and in doing so creating a standard of proof that was ridiculous.

In another time, and another place, I think we could enjoy quite a few stories over some beers. I'm sure the real Mike has some fantastic stories of douchebaggery.

Nothing - but it puts it in front of another 10k+ runners that are actively running marathons. I'm a MM and I can tell you there's no way I would run LVM after this and I'm sure I'm not alone.

And why would a self-serving media hound not provide the same "proof" that he claims to have and to have given LHVM? Why shutdown accounts and dis friends if he's not worried he's missed something incriminating? No person defending themselves from such an allegation behave in this manner unless they have something to hide. Nothing in his reaction points to innocence.

Of course I have evidence! Look at me finishing the race on video! Look at my finisher medal! That is hard evidence.

If anybody committed a crime it was the guy who body slammed his dog! He is by far the most hated runner in PETA sites. Dogs are people too!
