Did Mike Rossi (viral marathon dad) cheat his way into Boston?

The Boston Athletic Association accepted 23,546 qualifiers into the 2015 race, out of 25,493 applicants. Roughly two-thirds of those qualifiers exceeded their standard by 5 or more minutes.

Registration opened on September 8 for the fastest qualifiers, and was available to all time qualifiers September 15 to 17. Of those who applied during the second week of registration, 1,947 will be notified their application hasn't been accepted because of too many faster qualifiers signing up.

The qualifier breakdown for the 2015 race is:

4,093 qualifiers who were 20:00 or more under their standard.

6,490 qualifiers who were 10:00 or more under their standard.

6,160 qualifiers who were 5:00 or more under their standard.

6,447 qualifiers who were 1:02-4:59 under their standard.

356 qualifiers with an active streak of at least 10 years.

If Mr. Rossi's children are at a risk for being damaged, then it is Mr. Rossi who is solely responsible for that. He started this when HE posted the principal's standard, CYA (cover-your-ass) letter on the Internet. I am sure his kids heard it from classmates when he posted his somewhat sarcastic response to the principal, addressing her as Madam Principal, rather than by her own name.

Had he taken the more responsible and discreet approach and asking for a meeting to discuss his decision to take his children from school, then we wouldn't be having this conversation. Learning shouldn't necessarily be about only positive things. Sometimes you must learn abut the mistakes people make and the consequences that result from them, even if they are a result of a family member, or more specifically, your own father. He bragged how his two children learned more in those 5 says in Boston than they did in an entire year. Well, the saying f you live by the sword (social media), you die by the sword is appropriate, and now Mr. Rossi will also learn a lot from this experience, as well maybe his two children.

Why was this a "once in a lifetime event"? He qualified 14 minutes faster than he had to! Surely he would be confident he could qualify again for next year with little trouble. He can run 30 seconds/mile slower than he did on that fairly warm day at Lehigh,

Ah...so that makes it cool for you to continue on with damaging behavior of your own even if it hurts his kids because he initiated everything and therefore everything remains his fault. Very clean logic.

Wrong. I don't think Mike is a scholar of adult learning theory. You neither. Don't worry, they'll cover it in 11th grade.

OK, of all the incriminating circumstantial evidence presented so far, this stands out to me as the most incriminating:

On his blog he reports that he only ran "well over a thousand miles in 18 months" and "increased" his mileage to an average of 50 per week in preparation for Boston

Because it is fairly well established that to run your optimum marathon you need to run at least 60 (preferably 70) mpw, then one can safely say that only reaching "an average of 50" will NOT allow you to run the race of your life in an extreme outlier of a performance. Especially for someone who is 47 and has only been running for 3-4 years, and has not had a single previous comparable performance as the marathon in question. There is just no way that happens unless you are an undiscovered rare talent, and there is absolutely no evidence for that being the case with Mr. Rossi of Rydal.

You didn't answer my questions: When does the person from whom he stole the spot get their due? And is teamdoc your real name?

Looking through the lost and found pictures while I help with the spreadsheet made it clear just how warm the runners were. Tons of them took off their shirts at some point during the race, yet Rossi finishes his breakthrough performance without a drop of sweat.
